WHAT IT DOES

Print Page Cleanup removes clutter from web pages before printing, giving you clean, readable documents without ads, navigation bars, sidebars, footers, or other non-essential content. The tool preserves the main content—headings, paragraphs, images, tables, and lists—while stripping away everything that wastes paper and ink. You can customize the cleanup by choosing which elements to remove, adjust the font size for readability, and remove background colors for black-and-white printing. A print preview shows you the cleaned page before you commit to printing, and you can restore the page to its original state at any time.

WHERE IT RUNS

The extension runs entirely within your browser's local environment using the BotGentz framework. All page cleanup, element removal, and style adjustments occur on your machine without any network requests. No page content, cleanup data, or user activity is ever transmitted, uploaded, or stored externally. The tool works on any website and respects the browser's security boundaries, operating within the isolated extension sandbox.

HOW TO USE

Click the extension toolbar icon to open the Print Page Cleanup panel. Click "Clean Up Page" to remove ads, navigation, sidebars, and footers based on your settings—the page updates instantly. Click "Print Cleaned Page" to print the cleaned version directly. Click "Restore Page" to revert all changes and restore the original page. Toggle individual cleanup options: "Ads & banners," "Navigation bars," "Sidebars," and "Footers" control which elements are removed. Toggle "Remove backgrounds" to strip background colors and images for cleaner black-and-white printing. Adjust the "Font size" setting to make the text more readable. Toggle "Show preview" to see a notification when the page is cleaned. The panel shows the number of items removed from the current page.

THE CLEANUP ENGINE — WHY IT WORKS

Most print cleanup tools rely on a fixed set of selectors that quickly become outdated as website designs change. This tool uses a modular selector-based approach with separate groups for each element type: ads (ad-related classes, IDs, and data attributes), navigation (nav, .navbar, .navigation, #nav), sidebars (.sidebar, .aside, #sidebar), and footers (footer, .footer, #footer). When you trigger a cleanup, the tool scans the page for each active selector group and hides matching elements by setting display: none, preserving the original state for restoration. The background removal injects CSS that forces a white background and removes background images, ensuring clean black-and-white printing. The font size adjustment applies a global font-size rule that overrides page styles. The restoration function reverses all changes by removing the injected styles and restoring the display properties of removed elements. This approach allows you to fine-tune which elements are removed without permanently altering the page.

THE PANEL

The Print Page Cleanup panel is fully draggable by its title bar and remembers its position on screen per website. It snaps to the edges of your browser window for clean alignment. Collapse the panel to a compact icon strip using the minimize button, restoring it with a single click. Resize the panel by dragging any edge or corner; the cleanup controls and options adjust proportionally. Press the Escape key to close the panel instantly. The panel maintains independent state for each browser tab, allowing you to clean up pages in multiple tabs simultaneously.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension framework to be installed and enabled. The tool removes elements based on common selectors and may not catch every ad or sidebar on every website. Some pages may have unusual layouts that affect cleanup quality. The tool uses display: none to hide elements, which can be restored at any time. All cleanup operations are performed locally and are never transmitted, logged, or shared. The extension requests no network permissions and functions entirely offline. The source code is fully auditable and available for review.
