WHAT IT DOES

The Pros and Cons Extractor reads the visible text of any web page, identifies every product or service mentioned, and generates a structured, balanced evaluation for each one. For every item, it produces a clear list of advantages (pros) and disadvantages (cons) derived solely from the page content, followed by a concise one-sentence overall verdict. It does not rely on hidden metadata, structured data, or API calls to the underlying site—it works with whatever text is visible to a human reader. This is ideal for review sites, comparison articles, buyer's guides, product roundups, and even competitor analysis pages where you need to quickly distill opinions and facts into actionable insights.

WHERE IT RUNS

It runs as a draggable overlay panel inside the BotGentz browser extension on any website—no restrictions. Whether you are reading a blog post comparing laptops, a news article reviewing SaaS tools, a forum thread discussing headphones, or a corporate website listing services, the tool works immediately. It requires no special permissions or site-specific configuration.

HOW TO USE

1. Install the free BotGentz extension (see PLEASE NOTE).

2. Navigate to any page that contains product or service descriptions, reviews, or comparisons.

3. Click the BotGentz icon and select "Pros and Cons Extractor" from the tools menu.

4. The panel opens. Click the "Analyze Page" button.

5. Wait 2–5 seconds while the AI reads the page content and extracts structured pros/cons.

6. Review the results: each product appears in its own card with pros, cons, and a verdict.

7. Use the "Copy Results" button to copy the full output to your clipboard.

8. Drag the panel to reposition it, resize it, collapse it, or press Escape to close.

THE ACTUAL MECHANISM — semantic entity extraction with contextual valence scoring

Unlike generic summarization tools that simply condense paragraphs, this tool performs a two‑stage extraction pipeline entirely on the AI backend. First, it uses a lightweight named‑entity recognition pass to identify product and service names by looking for patterns such as capitalized trade names followed by descriptors ("X1000 wireless headphones", "ProManager suite"), pricing indicators, and comparative language ("better than", "outperforms"). Second, it applies a contextual valence scoring algorithm that maps sentences to positive or negative sentiment based on a curated lexicon of opinion‑bearing phrases (e.g., "excellent battery life" → +1, "frequent crashes" → −1) and aggregates these scores per entity. Crucially, it then filters out generic praise (e.g., "great product") that could apply to any item and retains only attribute‑specific signals—so you get actionable differences, not vague fluff. The final output is then structured into pros (positive attributes with supporting evidence), cons (negative attributes), and a weighted verdict that balances the count and intensity of each. All of this runs on the AI backend with a fixed token budget of 1,024, ensuring fast, focused results without over‑processing or hallucination.

THE PANEL

The panel is fully draggable by its title bar and snaps to the nearest edge of the viewport when released. You can resize it horizontally by dragging the left or right border; the height expands to fit content up to a maximum, with scrolling inside the results area. A collapse button minimizes the panel to a small floating chip showing "⚙️ Pros and Cons" — click it to expand back. Press Escape at any time to close the panel entirely. The panel remembers its last position, size, and expansion state per domain via localStorage.

- AI‑generated pros, cons, and verdicts are for informational purposes only—always verify critical claims, specifications, and pricing directly with the source or official product documentation before making decisions.

- Web pages change frequently; if the tool fails to detect products, use the "Report issue" link in the panel footer. We monitor reports and push script updates regularly.

- No page content is ever stored on our servers. The page text is transmitted securely to the AI endpoint solely for processing and is not retained. Only anonymized usage metrics (panel open/close, analysis runs, error reports) are collected; you can disable this in the extension settings at any time.
