WHAT IT DOES
The Protocol Migration Assistant enables users to migrate positions from old protocols to new protocol versions or entirely different protocols. Protocol migrations are common in DeFi when protocols upgrade their smart contracts, move to new versions, or when users want to switch from one protocol to another that offers better yields, lower fees, or improved security. This tool handles the entire migration process including withdrawing from the old protocol, handling token approvals, and depositing into the new protocol in a streamlined workflow.
The tool reads protocol state, user positions, token balances, current prices, migration parameters, target protocol state, position details, and approval status. It identifies the user's position in the old protocol and calculates what needs to be moved to the new protocol. The tool supports configurable migration amounts and slippage parameters to protect against adverse price movements during any swaps required by the migration.
HOW TO USE
1. Connect your wallet using the Connect button. The tool automatically detects your connected address and network.
2. Select the network where your protocols are deployed using the network dropdown.
3. Enter the old protocol contract address, the new protocol contract address, and the position ID (if applicable).
4. Enter the token address you want to migrate and the amount to migrate.
5. Configure your slippage tolerance percentage for any swaps involved in the migration.
6. Click "Preview migration" to see what will be withdrawn from the old protocol and deposited into the new one.
7. Review the migration details in the preview panel including both protocols, position ID, token, and amount.
8. Click "Execute Migration" to submit the migration transaction through your wallet.
9. The tool will handle the withdrawal from the old protocol, approvals, and deposit into the new protocol.
TECHNICAL MECHANISM
The tool interacts with both the old and new protocol contracts to execute the migration. First, it reads the user's position state from the old protocol to verify the position exists and can be withdrawn. Then it initiates the withdrawal process, which may involve claiming rewards, unstaking tokens, or other protocol-specific exit steps. Once the tokens are withdrawn, the tool approves the new protocol contract to spend the tokens (if required). Finally, it deposits the tokens into the new protocol to recreate the position, passing any necessary parameters such as position ID or deposit amount. The entire process is orchestrated as a single transaction sequence where possible, or as a guided multi-step process when protocols require separate transactions for withdrawal and deposit.
WHAT IT CANNOT SEE
This tool cannot verify that the price feed is accurate or reliable; it relies on the protocols' internal pricing. It cannot detect if the oracle has been compromised or manipulated. It cannot ensure that migration will execute at the optimal price due to slippage, market volatility, and block timing. It cannot guarantee that migration will complete successfully if the new protocol contract has not been audited or contains bugs. It cannot verify that the protocol contracts have not been upgraded or modified. It cannot detect if the swap path is optimal or if the transaction is being front-run by malicious actors. It cannot recover funds if execution fails due to contract bugs, insufficient approvals, out-of-gas errors, or blockchain reorgs. It cannot verify that tokens being moved are legitimate or not honeypot contracts. It cannot predict market movements, price gaps, or flash crashes that may affect migration value. It cannot guarantee execution during extreme network congestion, high gas prices, or volatile market conditions. It cannot detect if the target protocol has been compromised. It cannot prevent the user from canceling or modifying migration parameters through other interfaces. It cannot ensure that migration is economically optimal or that gas costs do not exceed the migration value. It cannot guarantee that the new protocol will honor the migrated positions or maintain the same benefits.

This tool is designed for EVM-compatible blockchains (Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, BSC, Avalanche, Fantom, and others). It requires an active wallet connection and sufficient native currency for gas fees. Always verify the old and new protocol addresses, position ID, and migration parameters before executing. Protocol migrations may involve multiple transactions—ensure you understand the full process.
