WHAT IT DOES

RadarScope Web Alert History Badge automatically scans RadarScope alert history pages and extracts comprehensive weather alert data including alert type (Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, Flash Flood, Hurricane, Winter Storm, Tornado Watch, Severe Thunderstorm Watch), issuance time, expiration time, severity level (Extreme, High, Moderate, Low), and affected counties or areas. The tool displays a floating overlay panel with a summary badge showing active alerts, expired alerts, and the most severe alert type present. Each alert is displayed with color-coded severity indicators—red for Extreme, orange for High, yellow for Moderate, and gray for Low. Alerts are sorted with active alerts first, then by severity. A full chronological history shows both active and expired alerts. Type filters let you show or hide specific alert categories, and your filter preferences are saved across sessions. The most recent and most severe alerts are highlighted for quick reference.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension operates exclusively on radarscope.com domain pages that contain alert history content—specifically pages with "/alerts", "/history", or "/warnings" in the URL path, or pages that display weather alert lists and warning history. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The alert history badge runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All alert data extraction, severity analysis, and filter preferences are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your weather tracking activity remains private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.

HOW TO USE

After installing both BotGentz and this alert history badge, navigate to any RadarScope alert history page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying a summary badge with active alerts count, expired alerts count, and the most severe alert type. The "Alerts" section lists all alerts in chronological order with active alerts shown first, each with its type emoji, issuance time, expiration time, affected area, and severity badge. Active alerts are shown in bold with a green status indicator, while expired alerts are shown in gray. The "Filters" section lets you click on alert type tags to show or hide specific categories—your preferences are saved automatically. The panel provides a complete, at-a-glance picture of all weather alerts in your history.

WEATHER ALERT EXTRACTION AND SEVERITY ANALYSIS

The alert history badge uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse weather alert data from RadarScope pages. It first attempts to find structured alert elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including "alert-item," "alert-card," "warning-item," and "history-item." When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to scanning page content for alert-like text patterns, looking for elements that contain warning keywords and time indicators. Each alert is categorized using a comprehensive keyword mapping system: "tornado" or "torn" maps to Tornado (Extreme severity), "severe thunderstorm" or "svr t-storm" maps to Severe Thunderstorm (High severity), "flash flood" or "flood" maps to Flash Flood (High severity), "hurricane," "typhoon," or "cyclone" maps to Hurricane (Extreme severity), "winter storm," "blizzard," or "ice storm" maps to Winter Storm (Moderate severity), "tornado watch" or "watch" maps to Tornado Watch (Moderate severity), and "severe thunderstorm watch" or "svr watch" maps to Severe Thunderstorm Watch (Moderate severity). Issuance and expiration times are extracted through pattern matching for time formats, and affected areas are extracted through pattern matching for "counties," "areas," or "for" labels. Active status is determined by checking for "expired," "cancelled," or "ended" keywords.

THE PANEL

The alert history badge panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the RadarScope alert history page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you monitor weather alerts. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, and alert type filter preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the alert history badge does not work standalone. RadarScope occasionally updates its page layouts and alert presentation formats, which may temporarily affect data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts alert data from the visible page content; if alert history is loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment or refresh the page for the panel to populate. Severity levels are based on alert type classification and are provided as a reference—always consult official weather sources for authoritative warning information. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all alert data extraction, severity analysis, filter preferences, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser.
