WHAT IT DOES

Random Name Generator creates names from a wide variety of categories and cultures. Generate first names, last names, full names, usernames, pet names, and fantasy names. Filter by gender (male, female, or any) and origin (English, Irish, Scottish, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, or any). Generate from 1 to 1,000 names at once. Copy results to your clipboard in list, numbered, or CSV format. The tool includes initials option for full names and supports bulk generation for character creation, testing, or brainstorming.

WHERE IT RUNS

The extension runs entirely within your browser's local environment using the BotGentz framework. All name generation, filtering, and formatting occur on your machine without any network requests. No name data, generation history, or user activity is ever transmitted, uploaded, or stored externally. The tool works on any website and respects the browser's security boundaries, operating within the isolated extension sandbox. Name generation uses curated name lists for each category and origin.

HOW TO USE

Click the extension toolbar icon to open the Random Name Generator panel. Select a category from the dropdown (First Names, Last Names, Full Names, Usernames, Pet Names, or Fantasy Names). Set the number of names to generate (1-1000). Select a gender filter (Any, Male, or Female). Select an origin filter (Any, English, Irish, Scottish, German, French, Italian, Spanish, or Japanese). Choose the output format (List, Numbered, or CSV). Click "Generate" to create the names. The results appear in the output area. Click "Copy" to copy the names to your clipboard. Toggle "Include initials" to add initials in parentheses after full names (e.g., "John Smith (J.S.)"). The tool updates automatically when you change settings.

THE NAME GENERATION ENGINE — WHY IT WORKS

Most name generators use a single list of common names without cultural context. This tool uses a curated database of names organized by category, gender, and origin. The first names list includes over 100 male and female names, plus unisex names for the "any" gender option. Last names include common surnames from various backgrounds. Origin-specific lists provide culturally authentic names for English, Irish, Scottish, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese origins. The username generator combines first and last names with common patterns (underscores, dots, numbers) to create realistic usernames. The pet name list includes popular pet names, and the fantasy name list draws from gaming and fantasy culture. Gender and origin filters combine to provide targeted name suggestions. The output formatter supports three formats for different use cases.

THE PANEL

The Random Name Generator panel is fully draggable by its title bar and remembers its position on screen per website. It snaps to the edges of your browser window for clean alignment. Collapse the panel to a compact icon strip using the minimize button, restoring it with a single click. Resize the panel by dragging any edge or corner; the input controls and output area adjust proportionally. Press the Escape key to close the panel instantly. The panel maintains independent state for each browser tab, allowing you to generate names in multiple tabs simultaneously.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension framework to be installed and enabled. The tool generates names from curated lists; some origins have more extensive lists than others. The username generator creates random combinations that may already exist in real use. The fantasy names are inspired by popular culture and are not guaranteed to be unique. Generating large batches (500+) may take a moment. All name data is processed locally and is never transmitted, logged, or shared. The extension requests no network permissions and functions entirely offline. The source code is fully auditable and available for review.
