About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Reddit Karma History Chart is a browser extension that automatically scans the current Reddit page for karma scores, post karma, comment karma, and user profile elements. It detects karma information by examining class names, IDs, and data attributes for patterns like ".karma", ".score", ".link-karma", ".comment-karma", and related selectors. The extension adds a floating track karma button (📈) next to the user profile, providing quick access to karma tracking controls. Clicking the button opens a panel where you can view a karma history chart, track karma changes over time, log current karma snapshots, and store karma history locally. The panel displays the current user, current karma scores (post, comment, total), and a chart visualizing karma trends over time. You can log current karma snapshots, refresh the chart, and view statistics including total entries, first and last karma values, and changes over time. The extension maintains a karma history database per user with karma history, notes, and tags. The main panel shows tracking history for the current and recent users. All data is stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue, ensuring your karma history persists across page reloads and browser sessions. This helps Reddit users who want to visualize and track their karma growth, celebrate milestones, and analyze karma trends over time.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension runs on any Reddit page that displays karma scores, post karma, comment karma, or user profile elements – including Reddit user profile pages, user overview pages, and any page with karma information. The extension intelligently adapts to different page structures and supports a wide range of common Reddit display patterns. No manual configuration is required per site; the extension automatically detects karma elements using a flexible pattern matching system. This makes it ideal for Reddit users who want to visualize and track their karma history.

HOW TO USE

Simply install the extension and navigate to any Reddit page showing karma information (especially your user profile). The extension automatically detects karma scores and shows a track karma button (📈) next to the user information. Click the button to open the karma history chart panel. The panel shows the current username, current karma scores (post, comment, total), and a chart displaying karma trends over time. Click "Log Current Karma" to save a snapshot of your current karma. Click "Refresh Chart" to update the chart with the latest data. The panel also shows statistics including the number of entries, first and last karma values, and changes over time. A floating button (📊) appears in the bottom-right corner of the page – click this to open the panel from anywhere. Use the notes section to add notes about karma milestones or achievements. The panel also shows tracking history for the current and recent users. Use the "Clear All Data" button to remove all tracking data when needed.

ONE TECHNICAL SECTION – WHY IT WORKS

The extension uses DOM traversal and canvas-based chart rendering to visualize karma history. The detection system uses a comprehensive set of CSS selectors targeting karma indicators including ".karma", ".score", ".link-karma", ".comment-karma", and related patterns. The username is extracted from data attributes and URL patterns. Karma scores are parsed from text content by removing non-numeric characters. The extension distinguishes between post and comment karma by examining parent element text content and class names. When logging karma, the extension stores the timestamp, post karma, comment karma, and total karma in the local database. The chart is rendered using the HTML5 Canvas API with three data series: total karma (blue), post karma (green), and comment karma (orange). The chart includes grid lines, axis labels, data points, and a legend. The chart data is generated from the stored entries, with support for up to 100 data points (configurable). A MutationObserver detects dynamic content updates and re-scans only when new karma elements appear, balancing real-time accuracy with system performance.

THE PANEL – DRAG / PER-SITE POSITION / SNAP / COLLAPSE / RESIZE / ESCAPE

The karma history chart panel includes a draggable title bar, allowing you to position it anywhere on screen for convenient access during browsing. The extension remembers your preferred position per website, so the panel opens in the same location each time you return to that domain. The panel supports snap-to-edge behavior – when dragged near screen edges, it gently snaps into place for a tidy workspace layout. You can collapse the panel down to just its title bar by clicking the collapse button, keeping it accessible without taking up screen space. The chart and statistics are contained within a scrollable body, ensuring all content remains accessible even on smaller screens. Pressing the Escape key closes the panel instantly, returning you to your Reddit browsing workflow.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and enabled, as it relies on BotGentz's userscript injection and GM_* API shims for cross-browser compatibility. Websites frequently update their HTML structures and class names, which may cause karma detection to break temporarily – we actively maintain the matching patterns and release updates regularly. The extension stores all karma history data, notes, and tags exclusively in your local browser storage (GM_setValue); no data is ever transmitted to any external server or third party. The extension does not read, modify, or interfere with any Reddit content or functionality beyond the karma display – it operates on the page content and stores only metadata (usernames, karma scores, timestamps, and notes) that you explicitly create. You are responsible for backing up your karma history data if you switch browsers or clear your storage. Use this tool responsibly and in accordance with Reddit's Terms of Service.
