About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Register IoT Device on IOTA enables you to register IoT devices on the IOTA blockchain (via EVM-compatible contracts), creating an immutable, verifiable record of device identity and metadata. IOTA is a distributed ledger designed for the Internet of Things, providing secure, scalable, and feeless transactions. This tool takes a device identifier (serial number or ID), device metadata (name, location, manufacturer, device type), and registers it on the IOTA blockchain via a device registry contract. The registration creates a permanent record of the device's identity, registration timestamp, and associated metadata. This is essential for IoT device identity management, supply chain tracking, device authentication, and secure device onboarding. The tool provides clear output showing the device ID, name, type, location, and transaction hash.

HOW TO USE

Connect your wallet using the BGWallet connector (required for context). Enter the IOTA device registry contract address. Enter the device identifier (serial number or ID). Enter the device name. Select the device type from the dropdown (Sensor, Actuator, Gateway, Camera, Microcontroller, Other). Optionally, enter the device location and manufacturer. Click "Register Device" to register the device on the IOTA blockchain. The tool displays the device ID, name, type, location, and transaction hash. You can copy the device ID or view the transaction on the blockchain explorer. The result includes a detailed breakdown showing the registration details and status.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

This tool implements IoT device registration on IOTA by sending a transaction to a device registry contract. The registration process: (1) the device identifier and metadata are validated; (2) a transaction is sent to the registry contract with the device data; (3) the contract stores the device record with the signer's address and timestamp; (4) the transaction hash serves as the proof of registration. The blockchain provides a permanent, tamper-proof record of the device registration. All computation is performed locally in the browser with no data sent to external servers except for the transaction itself.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot verify the physical device's authenticity or status beyond the blockchain record—it only registers the device. It does not support registration without a valid device identifier; the identifier is required. The tool cannot detect if the device has been tampered with or spoofed; it only registers the record. It does not support registration of devices not using the specified contract; the contract is required. The tool cannot verify the accuracy of the recorded metadata; it only stores what is provided. It does not support registration across non-EVM chains. The tool cannot guarantee that the device record is complete or truthful; it only stores the record. It does not support batch registration of multiple devices; each device must be registered separately.

PLEASE NOTE

This tool is designed for developers and users needing IoT device registration on IOTA-compatible blockchains. The device identifier uniquely identifies the device in the registry. The blockchain provides a permanent, verifiable record of registration. The contract address must be a valid IOTA device registry contract. For production use, ensure you have the correct contract address and sufficient gas fees. Always verify the registration through trusted sources. The tool is intended for testing, development, and educational purposes.
