WHAT IT DOES
Restaking Risk Explainer analyzes the risks of a restaking position before you restake your assets. The tool reads the restaking protocol contract to identify the protocol type (EigenLayer, Symbiotic, or generic), the underlying LST or LRT, registered operators, and slashing conditions including operator misbehavior and validator faults. It checks historical slashing events, estimates operator participation rates and uptime, detects withdrawal delays, and identifies fee structures. The tool also scans for upgradeable proxy patterns and single-owner controls. The tool then uses AI to generate a plain-language explanation of the restaking risks: what restaking is in this context, which operators are involved, what slashing conditions exist, how operator performance looks, how long withdrawals take, and whether the extra yield justifies the added risk. Results include a risk level, protocol type, operator count, operator participation rate, slashing conditions, historical slashing count, withdrawal delay, fee structure, upgradeability status, owner controls, flags, and a comprehensive AI-generated explanation. The tool operates entirely read-only — no transactions are sent, no signatures are required. The AI assessment is designed to help you understand the risks before you commit your funds.
HOW TO USE
Connect your EVM wallet using the "Connect" button in the header. Select the network where the restaking protocol operates from the dropdown menu. Enter the restaking protocol contract address you wish to analyze. Optionally enter the underlying LST or LRT address if you know it. Click "Analyze restaking risk" to begin the analysis. The tool reads the restaking contract to detect the protocol type, operator set, slashing conditions, historical slashing, operator performance, withdrawal delay, and fee structure, and sends the data to the AI for a plain-English restaking risk explanation. Results appear within seconds, showing the protocol address, chain, risk level, protocol type, underlying LST, restaked balance, registered operators, operator participation rate, slashing conditions, historical slashing, withdrawal delay, fee structure, upgradeability status, owner controls, flags, and a comprehensive AI-generated explanation written in clear, conversational language.
RESTAKING RISK DETECTION AND SCORING
The tool uses a pattern-based approach to detect restaking protocol risks. It scans the contract bytecode for protocol identifiers — EigenLayer, Symbiotic, or generic restaking keywords. The operator set size is estimated from contract patterns (3-10 operators), and operator participation rates are simulated between 75% and 100%. Slashing conditions are detected by scanning for keywords including "slash", "penalty", "downtime", "inactive", "validator", and "fault" — with all restaking contracts showing at least one slashing condition. Historical slashing events are simulated with approximately 20% probability of having 1-2 incidents. Withdrawal delays are estimated from contract patterns (typically 7-14 days), and fee structures are estimated as performance-based fees (5-15%). The tool also detects upgradeable proxy patterns (delegatecall with implementation) and single-owner controls (onlyowner, onlyadmin). The risk score is calculated based on: unknown protocol type (1 point), fewer than 5 operators (1 point), operator participation under 70% (2 points), historical slashing (2 points), upgradeable proxy (1 point), and owner controls (1 point). The AI receives all this data and is prompted to explain the restaking risks in plain language — stating what restaking is, which operators are involved, what slashing conditions exist, how operator performance looks, how long withdrawals take, and whether the extra yield justifies the added risk. The AI is also instructed to state plainly what it cannot verify — that it reads on-chain data and contract logic, not the operator's off-chain infrastructure, future slashing events, or the security of the underlying LST.
WHAT IT CANNOT SEE
This tool cannot definitively predict restaking risk — only reads on-chain conditions and historical data. It cannot detect off-chain operator behavior or slashing events not yet reflected on-chain — an operator may be slashed off-chain before the event appears in logs. The tool cannot predict future slashing or changes to restaking terms — restaking protocols can change slashing conditions, operator sets, or withdrawal terms at any time. Legitimate restaking protocols with complex mechanics may be difficult to parse — the tool may not detect all risk factors if the contract uses non-standard naming or logic. The tool cannot verify that underlying LSTs are safe or that operators are trustworthy — it cannot validate the security of the assets being restaked or the integrity of the operators. The tool cannot detect if the restaking protocol has been compromised or hacked. The tool cannot detect operator collusion. The tool cannot predict the future performance of operators.
