About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Screen Share Privacy Mode provides a one-click privacy mode that blurs or hides sensitive page elements (selected via click or pre-configured selectors) during screen sharing, with a quick toggle to show/hide protected content and a visible privacy indicator. The tool helps you present or share your screen without exposing confidential information, personal data, or sensitive UI elements to your audience.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool works on any webpage, including web applications, email clients, dashboards, and any site where you might share your screen. It protects elements you select via click or CSS selectors. It runs on all websites as designated in its match patterns.

HOW TO USE

After installing the BotGentz extension, open the panel and configure your settings: choose the blur intensity (Light, Medium, or Heavy), add default CSS selectors for elements you want automatically protected (comma-separated), and toggle auto-enable and the privacy indicator. Click "Toggle Privacy Mode" to activate or deactivate protection for all selected elements. Use "Start Selection Mode" to click on any element on the page to add or remove it from protection. Click "Apply Default Selectors" to protect elements matching your pre-configured selectors. The panel shows the current status and counts protected elements. A visible privacy indicator appears on the screen when privacy mode is active.

TECHNICAL SECTION — ELEMENT SELECTION AND DYNAMIC BLURRING ENGINE

The tool uses a two-pronged approach to element protection: click-based selection and CSS selector-based auto-protection. In selection mode, the tool captures click events and adds the target element to the protected list, storing a reference and its original filter state. For selector-based protection, the tool queries the DOM for matching elements using document.querySelectorAll and applies the blur effect. The blur engine uses CSS filter: blur() with configurable intensity, applied with a smooth transition. When privacy mode is toggled, all protected elements have their filter property updated simultaneously, providing instant privacy on demand. The tool maintains a list of protected elements and their original filter states, allowing for clean restoration when privacy mode is turned off or when elements are removed from protection.

THE PANEL

The panel is draggable anywhere on the screen and remembers its position per site. It can snap to the left, right, top, or bottom edges, or float freely. Collapse it to a small status indicator when you need more page visibility, and expand it again with a single click. Resize it vertically or horizontally to see more settings. Press Escape to close the panel instantly. All settings (blur intensity, default selectors, auto-enable, show indicator) are saved globally and persist across sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This tool requires the free BotGentz extension. It only applies visual blurring to selected elements and does not prevent screen capture at the system level. Always verify that sensitive content is protected before starting a screen share. The tool is not a substitute for proper security practices—ensure you are sharing the correct window or screen. Websites change their layouts frequently; scripts may need updates, and we work to keep them current but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation.
