About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Sensitive Data Blur scans the current page for sensitive data patterns (emails, phone numbers, credit card numbers, SSNs, passwords) and applies a blur effect to mask them, with hover-to-reveal functionality and configurable sensitivity levels. The tool helps protect your privacy in shared or public environments by obscuring sensitive information that might be visible on your screen, while still allowing you to view it when needed.
WHERE IT RUNS
This tool works on any webpage, including email clients, banking sites, social media platforms, form pages, and any page that may display personal information. It scans text content and input fields for sensitive data patterns using regex-based detection. It runs on all websites as designated in its match patterns.
HOW TO USE
After installing the BotGentz extension, the tool automatically scans the page for sensitive data and applies a blur effect. Configure your settings in the panel: choose the blur intensity (Light, Medium, or Heavy), toggle reveal on hover, and select which data types to detect (emails, phone numbers, credit cards, SSNs). The panel displays the current status showing how many items have been blurred. Use "Scan & Blur" to manually rescan the page after dynamic content changes, or "Clear Blur" to remove all blur effects and restore original visibility. Hover over any blurred element to temporarily reveal the content.
TECHNICAL SECTION — PATTERN-BASED SENSITIVE DATA DETECTION
The tool uses a multi-pattern detection engine to identify sensitive data in the page's text content. It scans text nodes and input fields using regular expressions for each data type: email addresses (standard email format), phone numbers (US and international formats), credit card numbers (13-16 digit patterns with optional spaces/dashes), and SSNs (###-##-#### format). Each data type can be individually enabled or disabled in settings. When a match is found, the tool wraps the text in a span element (or applies CSS to input fields) with a CSS blur filter. The blur intensity is configurable, and hover-to-reveal uses mouseenter/mouseleave events to toggle the filter. The tool maintains a list of blurred elements for efficient clearing and re-scanning.
THE PANEL
The panel is draggable anywhere on the screen and remembers its position per site. It can snap to the left, right, top, or bottom edges, or float freely. Collapse it to a small status indicator when you need more page visibility, and expand it again with a single click. Resize it vertically or horizontally to see more settings. Press Escape to close the panel instantly. All settings (blur intensity, reveal on hover, detect emails, detect phones, detect credit cards, detect SSNs) are saved globally and persist across sessions.
PLEASE NOTE
This tool requires the free BotGentz extension. All detection and blurring happens locally in your browser—no data is transmitted or stored. The tool uses pattern matching and may produce false positives or miss some sensitive data. It is not a substitute for proper security practices; always be mindful of what is displayed on your screen. The blur effect is visual only and does not prevent screen capture or other applications from accessing the content. Websites change their layouts frequently; scripts may need updates, and we work to keep them current but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation.
