About this app

WHAT IT DOES

This script scans SEO tool rank tracking dashboards—SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, SERPWatcher, and others—for keyword rankings and competitor data, then displays a floating overlay comparing your site's rankings against competitors side-by-side. It extracts keyword position data, search volume, and competitor rankings from tables and lists on the page. The comparison matrix shows each keyword with your rank, competitor ranks, ranking difference (diff), and a color-coded status: green when you outrank competitors (ahead), red when behind, yellow when tied. The panel calculates average position, wins (keywords where you rank higher than competitors), and losses (where you rank lower). Filter keywords by position range (e.g., show only keywords ranked 1-50), and export comparison data as CSV. Snapshots are stored per domain for tracking changes over time.

WHERE IT RUNS

Works on any SEO rank tracking dashboard that displays keyword rankings and competitor data—SEMrush Position Tracking, Ahrefs Rank Tracker, Moz Keyword Explorer, SERPWatcher, or any page with keyword ranking tables. The script scans page content for keyword-position pairs and competitor rank data, making it compatible with most SEO tools.

HOW TO USE

The panel appears automatically when you visit a rank tracking dashboard. It detects available keyword data and displays a comparison matrix showing each keyword, your rank, competitor ranks, ranking difference, and status. The summary stats show total keywords, average position, wins, and losses. Use the Min/Max position filters to focus on specific ranking ranges—for example, view only top-10 keywords or keywords between positions 10-30. The History section shows your last 10 comparison snapshots with timestamps and keyword counts. Click "Export CSV" to download all keyword comparison data. Use "Clear History" to remove stored snapshots for the current domain. The panel automatically saves snapshots each time you visit, building a history of your competitive landscape over time.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM: MULTI-PASS RANKING DATA EXTRACTION WITH COMPETITOR DETECTION

The script uses a comprehensive detection strategy. First, it scans all tables on the page, checking header rows for indicators like "keyword," "position," "rank," "search volume," or "competitor." For each table row, it extracts the keyword (by finding text with letters that isn't a domain name), your rank (by parsing numeric values, typically the first or smallest number), search volume (larger numbers, 50-1,000,000), and competitor ranks (other numbers between 1-100). Second, it scans list items (ul/ol) for patterns like "keyword - 10" to detect rank data in non-table formats. Third, it identifies competitor domains by looking for domain patterns in the row text or table headers, and infers competitor names from distinct rank values that appear across multiple keywords. The comparison matrix calculates the difference (diff) between your rank and the best competitor rank, color-coding the result: green for negative diff (you're ahead), red for positive diff (you're behind), yellow for zero (tied). Average position, win/loss ratio, and keyword counts are calculated from the filtered dataset. Snapshots store the full keyword list with ranks and competitor data, capped at 30 entries per domain to prevent storage bloat.

THE PANEL

The competitor rank comparison appears in a draggable, resizable panel that remembers its position per site. The panel shows summary stats, a comparison matrix with color-coded status, and filter controls. The keyword table displays each keyword with your rank, competitor ranks, diff, and status. Drag by the header to reposition, collapse to a compact icon with a click, and resize using the bottom-right corner. The panel snaps to screen edges for tidy placement and closes with the Escape key. All settings—position filter range and panel position—persist per website using GM_setValue, so your view returns exactly as you left it.

PLEASE NOTE

This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. Rank data detection relies on the page displaying keywords and positions in a parsable format—some SEO tools may use non-standard layouts that prevent automatic detection. The script does not access your SEO tool account data beyond what is visible on the page. All data is stored locally in your browser via GM_setValue and never transmitted. The script can only detect data that is currently visible on the page; if your SEO tool uses lazy loading or pagination, scroll to load all relevant data before using the panel. The competitor detection is heuristic and may not identify all competitors correctly in all cases.
