About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Sequencer Risk Explainer is a read-only tool that analyzes on-chain data for Layer 2 sequencers and generates AI-powered plain-language explanations of their risk profile. It reads sequencer status, sequencer address, last batch submission time, transaction inclusion rate, pending transaction queue, sequencer uptime, validator set, protocol parameters, L1 finalization state, batch submission history, sequencer rotation schedule, and performance metrics. The tool then presents this data alongside an AI-generated explanation of the sequencer's current status, uptime, transaction processing behavior, and potential risks — helping you understand the sequencer's health before submitting transactions or monitoring sequencer performance.

HOW TO USE

Connect your wallet using the BGWallet bridge and select your target network (Ethereum Mainnet is recommended for L1 checks, but Arbitrum, Optimism, and Polygon are also supported). Enter the rollup or L2 contract address — you vouch for this contract, not the tool. Optionally enter a specific sequencer address to analyze. Optionally specify the rollup name. Click "Analyze sequencer risk" to read on-chain data. The tool displays the rollup contract, sequencer address, rollup name, sequencer status, uptime, and transaction inclusion rate. Detailed information includes last batch submission time, pending transaction queue size, validator set, protocol parameters, L1 finalization state, batch history, rotation schedule, and performance metrics. A health score meter visually indicates the sequencer's overall health. An AI explanation appears below the on-chain data, describing the sequencer's risk profile including current status, uptime, transaction inclusion behavior, and potential risks or concerns. The wallet's own signature step still protects you — this explanation is informational only and does not replace reviewing what you approve in your wallet.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool uses ethers.js v5.7.2 with the provider from the BGWallet bridge to read on-chain data from the contract you specify. No hardcoded contract addresses are used — you are always in control of which contract you trust. When analyzing sequencer risk, the tool reads sequencer status from the sequencer management contract (e.g., getSequencerStatus(), isActive()), sequencer address from the sequencer registry or beacon, last batch submission time from the batch submission contract (e.g., getLastBatchTime()), transaction inclusion rate from the sequencer's transaction processing contract, pending transaction queue from the sequencer's mempool or queue contract, sequencer uptime from the sequencer's liveness tracking or performance monitoring contract, validator set from the validator management contract (e.g., getValidators(), getActiveValidators()), protocol parameters from the parameter storage (e.g., batch size limits, submission frequency), L1 finalization state from the L1 bridge or finalization contract, batch submission history from event logs (e.g., BatchSubmitted, SequencerRotated), sequencer rotation schedule from the sequencer scheduling contract, and performance metrics from the sequencer's performance tracking contract. The tool fetches event logs by walking backwards in chunks and halving chunk size on failure, ensuring logs are properly read despite varying RPC limitations. The data is formatted and passed to the AI bridge via BGAI.generate() with a structured prompt that includes all the on-chain data read. The AI is instructed to explain the sequencer's risk profile including current status, uptime, transaction inclusion behavior, and potential risks or concerns — while stating plainly that it cannot predict sequencer failures, censorship, or downtime, and cannot guarantee that the sequencer will process transactions within any specific timeframe. The AI response is capped at 1,024 tokens to ensure concise, focused risk assessments. All computed values are guarded against negative numbers — if an uptime percentage or health score appears invalid, the tool flags it rather than displaying nonsensical values.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot predict sequencer failures, censorship, or downtime. It cannot guarantee that the sequencer will process transactions within any specific timeframe. It cannot detect off-chain sequencer misbehavior, latency, or intentional transaction reordering not reflected on-chain. The AI explanation is generated from on-chain data only and cannot detect hidden sequencer outages, frontrunning, priority queue manipulation, or off-chain performance degradation. It cannot predict network congestion, gas price spikes, or L1 delays that may affect batch submissions. The tool does not continuously monitor the sequencer; each analysis is a snapshot at the time of the lookup. It cannot detect delayed batch submissions, transaction frontrunning, or off-chain data latency. The tool does not store any data persistently; all state is in-memory and resets on reload. The AI explanation is informational and does not constitute financial advice, legal advice, or a guarantee of sequencer reliability.

PLEASE NOTE

Sequencer Risk Explainer works exclusively with EVM-compatible chains. It requires a Web3 wallet (MetaMask or similar) and the BGWallet bridge. Explanations are AI-generated from data the app reads on-chain — always review what you are actually signing in your wallet before approving it. Always verify the rollup contract address you are using — the tool does not validate or endorse any contracts. Sequencer downtime or misbehavior carries significant risk including transaction delays, failed submissions, censorship, and potential loss of funds. Use this tool as a guide only; always cross-check with the rollup's official interface and independent sources for critical decisions. This is experimental software; use at your own risk.
