About this app
WHAT IT DOES
This tool enables you to stake native ETH with Lido, the largest liquid staking protocol on Ethereum. It reads your current ETH balance on Ethereum Mainnet, the Lido staking contract details, and the current gas price to provide an accurate cost estimate before you commit. The tool then constructs and submits a transaction to the Lido staking contract, depositing your specified amount of ETH and receiving stETH (Lido's liquid staking token) in return.
Liquid staking allows you to stake your ETH and earn staking rewards while receiving a liquid token (stETH) that can be used in DeFi applications, traded, or held. stETH represents your staked ETH and automatically accrues staking rewards over time, increasing in value relative to ETH. Lido is the leading liquid staking protocol, with over 30% of all staked ETH deposited through its platform, making it one of the most trusted and widely used staking solutions in the Ethereum ecosystem.
HOW TO USE
Connect your wallet using the "connect" button. Ensure you are connected to Ethereum Mainnet (chain ID 1) — the tool will display your current chain ID, ETH balance, and any existing stETH balance. Enter the amount of ETH you wish to stake in the input field. The tool will display the staking contract address and estimate the gas cost for the deposit transaction.
Review the stake summary, then click "stake ETH with Lido" to sign and submit the transaction through your wallet. The tool will wait for confirmation and display the transaction details on Etherscan. After the transaction is confirmed, you will receive stETH in your wallet representing your staked ETH position. Your stETH balance will automatically accrue staking rewards over time, and you can monitor it through the tool's balance display. stETH can be used across the DeFi ecosystem, including lending platforms like Aave and Compound, liquidity pools on Curve and Balancer, and as collateral for borrowing.
TECHNICAL MECHANISM — LIDO LIQUID STAKING
The tool interacts with the Lido stETH contract, which implements the submit() function. This function accepts ETH as value and handles the underlying mechanics of depositing ETH into the Ethereum staking pool and minting stETH tokens in return. When you call submit(), the Lido contract forwards your ETH to the Ethereum deposit contract, where it becomes part of a validator node's 32 ETH stake. In return, the contract mints stETH tokens at a 1:1 ratio with the deposited ETH, minus any protocol fees.
stETH is an ERC-20 token that represents your claim on the underlying staked ETH plus accumulated rewards. The value of stETH increases over time as staking rewards are accrued, allowing you to benefit from staking yields while maintaining the liquidity to use stETH in DeFi applications. Unlike traditional staking, where your ETH is locked and you cannot access it until you unstake, stETH can be freely transferred, traded, or used as collateral. The rebasing mechanism of stETH automatically adjusts your balance to reflect staking rewards, meaning your stETH balance grows over time without requiring any action on your part. The withdrawal process requires burning stETH and going through Lido's withdrawal queue, which can take several days depending on network conditions.
WHAT IT CANNOT SEE
This tool cannot estimate exact gas costs without a live RPC call, and gas prices on Ethereum Mainnet may change between quoting and execution. It cannot guarantee yield rates or APR, as these depend on network conditions and validator performance. The tool cannot verify the staking contract address is correct beyond the pre-configured mapping, and if the mapping becomes outdated, the transaction could fail or be sent to the wrong contract. It cannot cancel a transaction once submitted, and if the transaction fails due to gas issues or contract errors, you may still pay gas fees. The tool cannot interact with non-Ethereum chains or provide immediate withdrawal functionality — withdrawals require burning stETH and going through Lido's withdrawal queue, which can take several days. The tool cannot handle staking of tokens other than native ETH.
PLEASE NOTE — ETHEREUM MAINNET ONLY
This tool works exclusively on Ethereum Mainnet (chain ID 1). You must be connected to Ethereum Mainnet to use this tool. It does not support other networks or layer 2 solutions. The tool only stakes native ETH and returns stETH — it does not support other assets. stETH is a liquid staking token that accrues rewards automatically, but it also carries the risks of the underlying staking protocol, including slashing risks from validator misbehavior. stETH's value is generally pegged to ETH, but may trade at a slight discount in volatile markets. Always verify the staking contract address before submitting a transaction. This tool provides a simple deposit interface; withdrawals are not supported and must be performed through Lido's official mechanisms.
