Terms Update Notification Summarizer is a writing tool that analyzes terms of service updates, privacy policy changes, and legal notices from any webpage, then generates a concise plain-language summary. It identifies what has changed, why it matters to the user, and whether any action is required (such as accepting new terms or updating preferences), then produces a clear, easy-to-understand summary that explains the legal content in plain language. You can choose between a brief or detailed summary length, review the summary in the panel, edit it as needed, and copy it for your reference or for sharing with others.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool operates as a panel within the BotGentz browser extension, available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave. It works on any webpage displaying terms of service updates, privacy policy changes, legal notices, or similar legal content. Common sources include company websites, software platforms, service provider portals, and legal notice pages.

HOW TO USE

Navigate to any page that displays a terms of service update, privacy policy change, or legal notice. Open the BotGentz extension and select Terms Update Notification Summarizer from the tool menu. The panel will appear on the side of your browser. Select your preferred summary length (brief or detailed) from the dropdown menu. Click the "Summarize Terms Update" button to analyze the current page content. The tool extracts the relevant legal content and sends it to the AI for processing. Within moments, you will receive a concise plain-language summary in the panel. Review the summary, make any edits directly in the panel, and click the copy button to save it to your clipboard for your reference.

TECHNICAL SECTION — LEGAL NOTICE AND POLICY EXTRACTION

This tool uses a specialized pipeline trained on legal and policy communication patterns. First, it performs a hierarchical DOM traversal that prioritizes content blocks containing legal indicators such as "terms of service," "privacy policy," "legal notice," "update," "change," "effective date," "consent," "opt-out," "user rights," "data processing," and "policy." Second, it extracts candidate passages using a context-aware sliding window that captures both the legal text and surrounding structural markers (section headings, effective dates, summary highlights). Third, a trained classifier assigns each passage a probability score for being part of a legal update context using features like legal language frequency ("terms," "policy," "update," "change," "effective," "notice"), section markers, and action indicators. Fourth, the system applies semantic clustering to group related content into three core categories: what has changed, why it matters, and any action required. Finally, the structured clusters, combined with the user's length preference, are passed to the AI model with a constrained prompt that instructs it to generate a plain-language summary covering the key categories, reducing hallucination and ensuring accurate, contextually appropriate insights.

THE PANEL

The side panel is designed for seamless integration into your browsing workflow. You can drag it to either side of the window, and it remembers your preferred position per website. It supports snap-to-edge behavior and can be collapsed to a small tab for minimal distraction. The panel is resizable horizontally and vertically, with a minimum width of 280px and maximum of 600px. Pressing the Escape key closes the panel. All settings are saved locally.

AI-generated terms summaries are for assistance only and should be reviewed for accuracy before relying on them, as interpretations may occasionally miss legal nuances or misread the policy context. Websites change their legal page formats frequently, and extraction scripts may need periodic updates; we strive to keep the pattern library current. This tool does not store or transmit page content except for the extracted text sent to the AI API. No browsing history or personal data is collected or retained. Subscription billing is monthly and can be canceled at any time.
