WHAT IT DOES

Testnet Reset Notification Tracker is a developer-focused utility that tracks and displays historical and announced reset events for EVM testnets. It reads the chain ID and current block number when available, and cross-references a curated dataset of known testnet reset announcements. The tool displays reset history including the reset title, date, detailed description, status (completed, scheduled, or in-progress), and the source of the announcement. It covers major testnets including Sepolia, Goerli, Mumbai, BSC Testnet, Arbitrum Goerli, Optimism Goerli, and Avalanche Fuji. By providing a consolidated view of testnet reset events, the tool helps developers stay informed about when their deployed contracts and state will be wiped, enabling better planning for testnet deployments and CI/CD pipelines.

HOW TO USE

Connect your wallet (optional, for network detection) and enter a testnet name or chain ID into the input field. Supported names include: Sepolia, Goerli, Mumbai, BSC, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, or chain IDs like 5 (Goerli), 80001 (Mumbai), 97 (BSC Testnet), etc. Click "Check resets" to retrieve the reset history for that testnet. The tool will display the network name, chain ID, total number of tracked resets, and a detailed list of each reset event with its title, date, description, source, and status indicator. The status is color-coded: green for completed, amber for scheduled or in-progress, and gray for unknown.

TECHNICAL NOTE: DATA CURATION AND DISPLAY

The tool maintains a curated dataset of testnet reset announcements gathered from official sources including Ethereum Foundation blog posts, Polygon team announcements, BNB Chain updates, and other ecosystem communications. For each testnet, the dataset includes the chain ID for cross-referencing and a list of reset events with structured fields. The tool performs case-insensitive matching on both testnet names and chain IDs, displaying all relevant reset history. The dataset is designed to be easily extendable, allowing future reset announcements to be added as they occur. The tool also displays the current block number and timestamp when a wallet is connected, providing additional context for developers checking the current state of their testnet deployments.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

The tool cannot predict testnet resets before they are officially announced, as reset schedules depend on network operators and can change at any time. It cannot verify reset announcements from unofficial sources, potentially including inaccurate information. It cannot guarantee that tracked resets will actually occur, as planned resets may be postponed or canceled. The tool cannot detect resets on non-EVM chains. It cannot prevent loss of state or contracts due to resets; it only provides notification of past and announced events. It cannot recover data lost during resets. The tool is limited to the reliability of external announcement sources and may miss resets that were not publicly announced. It cannot distinguish between scheduled resets and network upgrades that do not involve state wiping.

This tool is designed exclusively for EVM-compatible testnets (Sepolia, Goerli, Mumbai, BSC Testnet, Arbitrum Goerli, Optimism Goerli, Avalanche Fuji, etc.). It does not support mainnet or non-EVM blockchains. The reset data is based on historical announcements and may not include all resets. Always check official testnet channels, Discord servers, and governance forums for the latest information. The tool is read-only and does not modify any state.
