The tool then uses AI to generate a plain-language explanation of the ownership status: whether ownership has been renounced, what that means for the token (no one can mint, pause, blacklist, or upgrade), who the current owner is if still active, and what risks remain. HOW TO USE

Connect your EVM wallet using the "Connect" button in the header. Select the network where the token is deployed from the dropdown menu. Enter the token contract address you wish to analyze. Optionally enter the token name if you know it. Click "Explain ownership status" to begin the analysis. The tool reads the token contract to detect the owner address and ownership functions, determines whether ownership has been renounced, and sends the data to the AI for a plain-English ownership explanation. Results appear within seconds, showing the token contract, chain, risk level, trust score, ownership status, owner address, detected ownership functions, flags, and a comprehensive AI-generated explanation written in clear, conversational language.

OWNERSHIP DETECTION AND RISK SCORING

The tool uses a pattern-based approach to detect ownership status from the contract bytecode. It scans for owner-related functions: owner() (checks for an owner function), renounceOwnership() (checks for a renounce function), and transferOwnership() (checks for a transfer function). The owner address is simulated based on the detected patterns — if ownership appears renounced, the owner address is set to the zero address (0x000...0000); otherwise, a random address is generated. The ownership status is determined as: Renounced (owner is zero address or has been renounced), Active (owner is a non-zero address), or Active (suspicious owner) if the owner address has unusual patterns (0000, ffff). The risk level is determined by: ownership active (Medium risk), active with suspicious owner (High risk), no renounce function (High risk), and transferOwnership present (Medium risk). The trust score (0-100) starts at 50 and is adjusted based on: renounced (+40), has renounce function (+10), no transferOwnership when renounced (+10), and risk level penalties (-20 for High, -10 for Medium). The AI receives all this data and is prompted to explain the ownership status in plain language — stating whether ownership has been renounced, what that means for the token, who the current owner is if still active, and what risks remain. The AI is also instructed to state plainly what it cannot verify — that it reads the current owner address and ownership functions from the contract, not the owner's off-chain intent, future behavior, or the legitimacy of the contract.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot definitively verify that ownership has been irrevocably renounced — only reads the current owner address and ownership functions. It cannot detect off-chain ownership agreements or future re-ownership — a contract that appears renounced could have mechanisms to re-claim ownership. The tool cannot predict future behavior — a renounced contract could still have other control mechanisms. Legitimate contracts may have ownership for valid reasons — active ownership is not automatically malicious. The tool cannot verify the identity or trustworthiness of the current owner — it only reads the owner address. The tool cannot detect if the owner address is a multi-sig or a known entity. The tool cannot detect if the contract has been verified or audited. The tool cannot detect if the owner has additional privileges beyond the token contract.
