About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Trading Pause Function Explainer analyzes a token's trading pause function and explains the risk of being locked out before you invest. The tool reads the token contract to detect pause and unpause functions, current paused status, owner address, total supply, and holder count. It then identifies concerning patterns — owner can pause without restrictions, no unpause mechanism, currently paused, or pause function with suspicious patterns. The tool then uses AI to generate a plain-language explanation of the trading pause function: whether trading can be paused, who can pause it, whether it is currently paused, and the risk of being locked out of trading. Results include a risk level, safety score (0-100), total supply, holders, pause function status, unpause function status, current paused status, owner address, flags, and a comprehensive AI-generated explanation. The tool operates entirely read-only — no transactions are sent, no signatures are required. The AI assessment is designed to help you understand the risks of a token's pause function before you invest.

HOW TO USE

Connect your EVM wallet using the "Connect" button in the header. Select the network where the token is deployed from the dropdown menu. Enter the token contract address you wish to analyze. Optionally enter the token name if you know it. Click "Explain pause function" to begin the analysis. The tool reads the token contract to detect pause functions, current paused status, owner address, and holder data, and sends the data to the AI for a plain-English pause explanation. Results appear within seconds, showing the token contract, chain, risk level, safety score, total supply, holders, pause function status, unpause function status, current paused status, owner address, flags, and a comprehensive AI-generated explanation written in clear, conversational language.

TRADING PAUSE RISK DETECTION AND SCORING

The tool uses a pattern-based approach to detect trading pause risk from the contract bytecode. It scans for pause-related keywords (pause, unpause, paused) and owner/admin functions (owner, admin). The total supply is read from the contract, and the holder count is estimated. The pause status is determined based on the presence of pause and unpause functions and the current paused state. The safety score (0-100) starts at 50 and is adjusted based on: pause function (present: -0, not present: +20), unpause function (present: +10, not present: -20), currently paused (-30), and risk level penalties. The risk level is determined by: currently paused (Critical), no unpause function (Critical), pause function with owner controls (High), and no pause function (Low). The AI receives all this data and is prompted to explain the trading pause function in plain language — stating whether trading can be paused, who can pause it, whether it is currently paused, and the risk of being locked out of trading. The AI is also instructed to state plainly what it cannot verify — that it reads the pause function and status from the contract, not the owner's off-chain intent, future behavior, or the legitimacy of the mechanism.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot definitively determine if a trading pause is safe — only reads the pause function and current status. It cannot detect off-chain coordination or malicious intent not reflected in on-chain data — a token with a reasonable pause function could still be a scam. The tool cannot predict future pause/unpause behavior — a token that is not paused could be paused later. Legitimate contracts may have pause functions for valid reasons — pause functions are often used for emergency situations. The tool cannot verify the identity or trustworthiness of the contract owner — it only reads the owner address. The tool cannot detect if the pause function is properly implemented. The tool cannot detect if the owner is using the pause function to manipulate the token. The tool cannot predict the future performance of the token. The tool cannot verify that the pause function is correctly enforced.

PLEASE NOTE

Trading Pause Function Explainer supports EVM-compatible chains only (Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, and others). The tool is read-only and never requests wallet signatures or transaction approvals. Pause assessments are AI-generated from on-chain data — always verify token pause functions through block explorers, official documentation, and independent research before investing. The AI assessment is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial or legal advice. Trading pause functions can be used for legitimate emergency purposes or to lock out holders — always consider whether the pause function appears reasonable and who has control over it before investing.
