WHAT IT DOES

U-Haul Web Truck Availability Checker reads truck availability and location details from U-Haul truck rental pages and displays a floating availability checker showing truck sizes and availability status by location. The badge shows the location name, a list of truck sizes with their availability status—Available (green), Limited (yellow), or Unavailable (red)—and a summary of available trucks. Each truck shows its size, status, and distance when available. The extension tracks location history per search, storing each availability check with a timestamp. The panel displays your current location, truck sizes, availability status, and history. You can set preferred truck sizes to be highlighted.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all U-Haul pages at uhaul.com and its subdomains, specifically on truck rental pages and location search pages where truck availability is displayed. It runs on the main rental page, the location search page, the truck size selection page, and any page displaying availability information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access U-Haul's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to uhaul.com and search for truck availability. The extension automatically creates a floating availability checker overlay on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The overlay shows your location, available truck sizes, and status. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the overlay with the latest availability information. Enter preferred truck sizes in the preferences section (e.g., 10ft, 15ft, 20ft, 26ft) to have them appear first. The "Show availability status" toggle controls whether status badges appear. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.

TRUCK AVAILABILITY EXTRACTION WITH STATUS DETECTION AND LOCATION TRACKING

Unlike simple availability display tools, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find truck items, sizes, and availability status from U-Haul's varying page structures. It searches for truck items using multiple selector patterns (.truck-item, .vehicle-item, .size-option) and falls back to text parsing. Availability status is detected using status elements and keyword matching (available, in stock, limited, few, last). Distance information is extracted from distance elements. Location names are extracted from location selectors. Location history is stored as an array of records with location name, available truck count, total trucks, and timestamp, limited to 20 entries. Preferred truck sizes are stored as an array and displayed first. The status color coding provides quick visual identification of available trucks.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on uhaul.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, preferred sizes, availability visibility, and location history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. U-Haul's website changes periodically, and truck element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting availability data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, preferred sizes, availability preference, and location history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Location history is stored as an array of records with location name, available count, and timestamp. The truck availability displayed is read from the page—the extension does not access U-Haul's internal inventory data. Always verify with U-Haul directly for the most accurate truck availability information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for uhaul.com.
