WHAT IT DOES

Universal Bulk Contact Export to vCard lets you export multiple contacts to a single vCard (.vcf) file in a single operation. Instead of manually copying contact details one by one, or using each site's built-in export that may not support vCard format — this tool provides a unified checklist of all contacts on the current page. You can see each contact with their name, email, phone number, and other available fields. Select any number of contacts using checkboxes and click Export. The tool then extracts the selected contact data, generates standard vCard 3.0 format entries, and creates a downloadable .vcf file. This turns what could be a tedious copy-paste operation into a single batch action, making contact backup, migration, and synchronization significantly faster and more precise.

WHERE IT RUNS

This script runs on virtually any web page that displays a list of contacts — Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, LinkedIn, CRM systems, and more. It activates on contact list views and address book pages across the web. It requires the BotGentz extension to inject and execute the script. The tool does not work on mobile apps or native clients — only on the web-based versions of address book applications accessed through a Chromium-based or Firefox browser. It specifically targets *://*/*, meaning it can be used on any website with a contact list.

HOW TO USE

After installing the script via BotGentz, navigate to any address book or contact list page — for example, Gmail Contacts, Outlook People, or your CRM's contact list. The tool automatically detects the contact list and displays a floating panel on the right side. The panel shows all contacts on the current page, with checkboxes next to each contact entry. Each contact displays its name, email, phone, and other available fields. Use the search box to filter by name or email to narrow down your selection. Check the boxes for every contact you want to export. Below the contact list, toggle whether to include all available fields in the export. Click "Export to vCard" to download a .vcf file containing all selected contacts, or click "Copy vCard Data" to copy the vCard text to your clipboard. A status message appears when the export completes, showing how many contacts were exported.

THE ACTUAL MECHANISM — WHY IT WORKS

This tool is designed to work universally across different address book applications. It scans the DOM for contact items using common selector patterns found in contact lists across the web, extracting names, emails, phone numbers, organizations, job titles, and addresses from the visible text content and data attributes. For vCard generation, the tool follows the vCard 3.0 specification (RFC 2426), formatting each contact as a standard VCARD entry with N, FN, EMAIL, TEL, ORG, TITLE, and ADR fields. The tool properly escapes special characters like backslashes, semicolons, and commas to ensure vCard compatibility. A unique UID is generated for each contact, and a REV timestamp is added for version tracking. This approach works without making direct API calls, which would require authentication credentials and knowledge of each site's internal API structure. By reading the rendered DOM and generating standard vCard output, the tool produces files that are compatible with virtually all address book applications and contact management software.

THE PANEL

The floating panel is fully draggable — click and drag the header to reposition it anywhere on the page. The panel's position is saved per site in localStorage, so it reappears exactly where you left it. Double-click the header to snap the panel to the nearest edge (left or right). A collapse button minimizes the panel to a small tab showing a vCard emoji badge, keeping it out of the way while still accessible. The contact list inside the panel is scrollable and resizes vertically based on the number of contacts. Pressing Escape while the panel is focused closes it completely; reopening is done via a small button injected near the page header. All panel interactions are non-blocking — the host site's main UI remains fully responsive while the panel is open, and the panel updates automatically when you navigate between pages.

This script requires the BotGentz extension (free) to run user scripts. It works on a best-effort basis across different address book applications; some sites may have unique DOM structures that require updates if the tool stops working. Check for updated versions within BotGentz's script repository if you encounter issues. This tool does not store, transmit, or log any contact data — all operations occur locally in your browser with no external network requests except those made by the host site itself. The vCard file is generated entirely from visible page content and downloaded directly to your computer. For large contact lists, the tool may take a moment to generate the export file — a status message indicates when the export is complete. The generated vCard files are compatible with standard address book applications including Apple Contacts, Google Contacts, Outlook, Thunderbird, and most CRM systems. The "Include all fields" toggle controls whether additional fields like organization, job title, and address are included in the export.
