WHAT IT DOES

Universal Print Stylesheet Injector adds a clean, print-optimized stylesheet to any webpage you visit, transforming cluttered, ad-filled pages into clean, readable documents perfect for printing. The tool removes navigation bars, sidebars, advertisements, cookie notices, popups, social sharing widgets, and all other non-essential elements. It optimizes typography with serif fonts, adjusts line spacing and margins for comfortable reading on paper, and adds print-friendly headers and footers with the page title and URL. A screen preview mode lets you see exactly how the page will look when printed before you commit to printing.

This extension works on any website across the entire web. It functions on news articles, blog posts, documentation pages, recipes, tutorials, and any other content-heavy page. No site-specific configuration is required — the tool applies universal print styling rules that work on virtually every website's content structure.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension and navigate to any webpage you want to print. The print stylesheet is injected automatically. Click the "Print Page (with clean styles)" button in the panel to open the browser's print dialog with the clean styles applied. Toggle "Preview print view on screen" to see how the page will look on paper before printing — this transforms the current view into the print-optimized version. Customize the print output using the settings panel: choose between small, medium, or large font sizes, adjust margin sizes, toggle whether URLs appear after links, include or remove the page title header and footer, and hide or show images. Advanced users can add custom CSS for global overrides or per-domain custom styles.

TECHNICAL SECTION — DYNAMIC PRINT STYLESHEET GENERATION

The extension dynamically generates a print-optimized stylesheet on each page load. The stylesheet uses CSS @media print rules to control how the page renders when printed, leaving the screen view untouched unless preview mode is enabled. The stylesheet aggressively hides common clutter elements using a curated list of selectors — targeting navigation, sidebar, ad, and popup elements by class, ID, and ARIA roles. It resets background colors to white, forces text to black, removes shadows and gradients, and applies serif typography for readability. Font size and margin settings are injected as CSS variables or direct values, allowing real-time customization without reloading the page. The preview mode applies the same styles to the screen view by adding a class to the document element, creating a WYSIWYG experience. Custom CSS from the user and per-domain overrides are appended to the generated stylesheet, giving full control over the final output.

THE PANEL — DRAG / PER-SITE POSITION / SNAP / COLLAPSE / RESIZE / ESCAPE

The overlay panel is fully interactive and designed for seamless multitasking. Drag it anywhere on the screen using the handle at the top of the panel; the position is saved per site so it stays where you left it across sessions. The panel includes a snap-to-edge feature that gently anchors the overlay to the nearest screen edge when released. Click the collapse button to minimize the panel to a compact pill showing the current preview status; expand it again with a single click. Resize the panel vertically by dragging the bottom-right corner to view more controls. Press the Escape key at any time to instantly close the overlay; it reappears on the next page navigation or refresh.

This extension requires the free BotGentz companion extension to function, as it provides the underlying content script injection and cross-origin communication framework. No personal data, browsing history, or page content is stored, transmitted, or shared. Settings are stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue and are never sent to any external server. The extension does not access or store login credentials, financial data, or personally identifiable information. The print stylesheet uses aggressive hiding rules that may remove some legitimate page content if it shares class names with hidden elements. The extension provides per-domain custom CSS to override any unwanted hiding. Some websites may have complex layouts that the universal stylesheet does not fully optimize; custom CSS can be added for those sites to improve the print output.
