About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Universal WHOIS Quick Lookup Button adds a floating WHOIS lookup button to every webpage, giving you instant access to domain registration information. A visible button appears in the corner of the page—click it to open an inline panel showing domain creation date, expiry date, registrar, name servers, and registration status. The button also opens WHOIS information in a new tab using your preferred WHOIS service (who.is, whois.com, or icann.org). The inline panel provides a quick summary without leaving the page, and multiple service buttons let you choose which WHOIS provider to use for detailed information. Previous WHOIS lookups are cached for quick reference. The button is positioned where you want it—top-right, top-left, bottom-right, or bottom-left.
WHERE IT RUNS
This script runs on every website (matching all URLs), adding the WHOIS lookup button across the entire web. It works on all domains and TLDs, automatically adapting to each page. The script handles both secure (HTTPS) and non-secure (HTTP) sites.
HOW TO USE
After installing through the BotGentz extension, simply browse the web as usual. A floating WHOIS button appears on every page—click it to perform a WHOIS lookup for the current domain. Use the configuration panel to customize your experience: toggle the WHOIS button on or off, choose the button position (top-right, top-left, bottom-right, bottom-left), select your default WHOIS service (who.is, whois.com, or icann.org), enable or disable the inline info panel, show or hide quick info, and enable automatic detection. The panel displays real-time statistics including the current domain and its registration status. Use the "Lookup Current Domain" button to manually trigger a lookup, or "Clear WHOIS Cache" to remove cached data.
FLOATING BUTTON WITH INLINE WHOIS PANEL AND MULTI-PROVIDER SUPPORT
This script implements a domain WHOIS lookup system with a floating button interface. The button uses fixed positioning with configurable corner placement (top-right, top-left, bottom-right, bottom-left) and includes a hover tooltip showing the current domain. The inline panel uses absolute positioning near the button with scrollable content, displaying key WHOIS fields including creation date, expiry date, registrar, name servers, and status with color-coded status indicators. The panel includes quick-action buttons to open the domain in multiple WHOIS services, giving users flexibility in choosing their preferred lookup source. The caching system stores WHOIS data locally using GM_setValue with a 7-day cache lifetime, reducing redundant lookups and improving performance. The panel supports Escape key dismissal and click-outside-to-close behavior for seamless interaction.
THE PANEL
The configuration panel is fully draggable and remembers its position per-site using GM_setValue. It snaps to screen edges when dragged near them, collapses to a compact bubble when minimized, and supports Escape key for quick collapse. All settings—including button visibility, button position, default service, inline panel preference, quick info display, and automatic detection—are persisted across sessions.
PLEASE NOTE
This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. The script adds a floating WHOIS lookup button to all web pages. WHOIS data displayed in the inline panel is estimated or derived from available information, as actual WHOIS lookups require server-side access. The inline panel provides a quick reference—for authoritative WHOIS information, use the provided links to open official WHOIS services. The script stores cached WHOIS data locally in your browser using GM_setValue for performance. All data is stored locally and never transmitted to external servers. This tool is designed to help you quickly access domain registration information and is provided for informational purposes only.
