WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all BuyBuy Baby pages at buybuybaby.com and its subdomains, specifically on registry pages where items are displayed. It runs on the main registry view, the registry list page, and any page displaying registry items and their purchase status. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access BuyBuy Baby's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to buybuybaby.com and open a registry page. The extension automatically scans the registry items and displays a completion badge. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the panel. The panel shows the registry name, a progress ring with completion percentage, item statistics (total, purchased, remaining), and a status badge. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the panel with the latest registry data. The "Show completion badge" toggle controls whether the badge appears. The "Milestone notifications" toggle controls desktop notifications when the registry reaches 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% completion. The panel updates automatically as registry items are marked purchased.

SELECTOR-BASED ITEM SCANNING WITH PURCHASED STATUS DETECTION

Unlike simple page scrapers, this extension uses a multi-selector scanning engine to find registry items from BuyBuy Baby's varying page structures. It searches for registry items using multiple selector patterns (.registry-item, .gift-item, .registry-product, .item-card) and falls back to table rows when items aren't found in card format. For each item, the extension checks for purchased status using a comprehensive selector list (.purchased, .fulfilled, .bought, .status-purchased) and text-based keyword detection as a fallback. The completion percentage is calculated as the ratio of purchased items to total items. Registry completion history is stored as an array of records with timestamps, limited to 30 entries per registry. Milestone notifications are triggered when the completion percentage crosses a threshold (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) and are limited to once per milestone per day to prevent notification spam.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on buybuybaby.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, badge visibility, notification preference, and registry history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. BuyBuy Baby's website changes periodically, and registry element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting registry items until an update is released. The extension stores your badge visibility, notification preference, and registry completion history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Registry history is stored as a key-value object where keys are registry names and values are arrays of completion records with timestamps. The completion percentage is calculated based on items detected on the page—the extension does not access BuyBuy Baby's internal registry data. Always verify with BuyBuy Baby directly for the most accurate registry information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for buybuybaby.com.
