WHAT IT DOES

Parking Spot Rental Site Availability Notifier scans the current page for parking spot rental listings, extracting spot locations, availability status, prices, and amenities from parking rental platforms (SpotHero, ParkWhiz, etc.). The floating panel shows real-time availability status with color-coded indicators (green for available, yellow for limited, red for full). A summary shows available spots, pricing tiers, and proximity to destination. Set availability alerts for specific locations and export availability data as CSV or text. Recently changed availability is highlighted, and price trends are tracked.

WHERE IT RUNS

Works on any parking rental platform, including SpotHero, ParkWhiz, and other parking reservation sites. The script detects parking spot listings using common selectors and can also fall back to general card-like elements. It works best on pages with structured parking spot listings containing location, price, and availability information.

HOW TO USE

The panel displays a summary of available, limited, and full spots, followed by a list of all detected parking spots. Each spot shows its location, availability status with color coding, price, and amenities. Click the bell icon (🔔) next to any spot to set an availability alert. When a spot with an active alert becomes available, a desktop notification will be sent. The panel tracks status changes between scans and highlights recent changes. Export the availability data as text for reference or sharing. The panel automatically scans on load and can be refreshed with the "Scan Spots" button.

MECHANISM — STATUS DETECTION WITH CHANGE TRACKING

The script extracts parking spots using a multi-strategy approach. It first attempts to find spot containers using common selectors (.spot, .parking-spot, .listing-item). From each container, it extracts location, price, availability status, and amenities using targeted sub-selectors. Availability status is detected by analyzing status text against keywords (available, limited, full) with fallback to 'unknown'. The script maintains a state history to detect changes between scans—when a spot's status changes, it's highlighted in the panel. Alerts are stored locally and checked against the current status; if an alert is set for a spot that becomes available, a notification is triggered using GM_notification. All extraction runs client-side with no network calls.

THE PANEL

The floating panel is fully draggable and remembers its position per domain. Click the minimize button to collapse it to a small bubble, or press Escape to hide it. The panel automatically adjusts to different screen sizes and can be resized to show more content. All settings, including alerts and preferences, are saved per domain. The panel integrates smoothly with any page layout using the BGPanel framework, maintaining clean separation from page content.

PLEASE NOTE

This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. It does not send any data to external servers; all extracted spot data, alerts, and settings remain entirely local to your browser using GM_setValue. The script never reads password fields, hidden inputs, or file inputs. It stores only spot locations, prices, availability status, and user-set alerts from publicly visible page content. Spot detection depends on the page structure; if spots are not detected, use the "Scan Spots" button to refresh extraction. Notifications require GM_notification permission. Data persists across browser sessions and is isolated per browser profile.
