About this app
WHAT IT DOES
REI Web Member Dividend Estimator reads your purchase history and eligible items from your REI account page and displays a floating dividend estimate badge showing your projected annual dividend. The badge displays the estimated dollar amount based on eligible purchases at the standard 10% dividend rate, with the ability to adjust the rate. The panel shows your total spending, number of eligible items, and a detailed breakdown. The extension tracks dividend history per year, storing each estimate with a timestamp, and displays the current year's estimate and changes over time. The badge is fully draggable, resizable, and remembers its position, size, and opacity across sessions.
WHERE IT RUNS
This extension works on all REI pages at rei.com and its subdomains, specifically on account pages where purchase history and order details are displayed. It runs on the main account page, the order history page, and any page displaying purchase and eligibility information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access REI's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.
HOW TO USE
Install the extension, then navigate to rei.com and log in to your account. The extension automatically creates a floating dividend estimate badge on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The badge shows your projected dividend estimate. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the badge with the latest purchase data. Adjust the dividend percentage rate using the dropdown (8%, 10% Standard, 12%, or 15%) to customize the estimate. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). The panel also displays the current year's dividend history and any changes from the previous estimate. Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.
ELIGIBILITY-BASED DIVIDEND CALCULATION WITH PER-YEAR HISTORY TRACKING
Unlike simple percentage calculators, this extension uses a multi-factor estimation engine that considers both total spending and item eligibility. REI dividends are typically calculated as 10% back on eligible full-price items. The extension extracts total spending from the page and counts eligible items using selectors that identify dividend-eligible purchases. The eligible ratio is calculated as the number of eligible items divided by total items, providing a more accurate estimate when only a portion of purchases qualify. Users can also manually adjust the dividend rate to account for special promotions or changes in REI's policy. Per-year dividend history is stored as an array of records with timestamps, limited to 20 entries per year to manage storage, allowing users to track how their dividend estimate changes over the course of the year.
THE PANEL
The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on rei.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, dividend rate, and per-year dividend history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.
PLEASE NOTE
This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. REI's website changes periodically, and purchase element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting purchase data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, dividend rate, and per-year dividend history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Dividend history is stored as a key-value object where keys are year strings and values are arrays of estimate records. The dividend estimate is calculated based on purchases visible on the page—the extension does not access REI's internal dividend data. The standard rate is 10%, but actual dividends may vary based on REI's policies and promotions. Always verify with REI directly for the most accurate dividend information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for rei.com.
