SHRM Web Certification Renewal Reminder automatically scans SHRM certification renewal and credential pages to extract comprehensive renewal data including certification name, expiration date, days remaining, continuing education credits (PDCs) earned, PDCs required, renewal status (Active, Pending, Expired, Renewed), PDCs remaining, and completion percentage. The tool displays a floating overlay panel showing a countdown to certification expiration with color-coded urgency indicators—green for 180+ days, yellow for 90-179 days, orange for 30-89 days, and red for under 30 days. A PDC progress bar shows progress toward renewal requirements with color-coded completion—green for 80%+, yellow for 50-79%, and gray for below 50%. Remaining PDCs needed are displayed prominently. Renewal status is shown with color-coded indicators. This provides a complete, organized view of your SHRM certification renewal status and helps you stay current.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension operates exclusively on shrm.org domain pages that contain certification renewal and credential content—specifically pages with "/certification", "/renewal", "/credentials", or "/my-shrme" in the URL path, or pages that display certification status and renewal information. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The renewal reminder runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All renewal data extraction, countdown calculation, and preference storage are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your certification data and tracking preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.

HOW TO USE

After installing both BotGentz and this renewal reminder, navigate to any SHRM certification renewal or credential page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying your certification name and status. The "Expiration Countdown" section shows days remaining with color-coded urgency and the expiration date. The "PDC Progress" section shows PDCs earned, PDCs required, a progress bar, and remaining PDCs needed. The "Reminder" section shows alerts for upcoming expiration and PDC requirements. The panel provides a complete, organized view of your certification renewal status.

CERTIFICATION RENEWAL DATA EXTRACTION AND PDC TRACKING

The renewal reminder uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse renewal data from SHRM pages. It first attempts to find structured renewal elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including certification status containers, renewal information sections, and PDC tracking elements. When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to text-based parsing, scanning the page for renewal-related patterns using pattern matching for expiration dates, PDC counts, and status labels. Expiration dates are extracted through pattern matching for "expiration date" or "expires" labels with date formats. Days remaining is calculated by comparing the expiration date to the current date. PDCs earned are extracted through pattern matching for numeric values with "PDCs earned," "completed," or "received" labels. PDCs required are extracted through pattern matching for numeric values with "PDCs required" labels or from "X/Y PDCs" patterns. Renewal status is determined through keyword detection for "Active," "Pending," "Expired," or "Renewed." Completion percentage is calculated as (PDCs earned / PDCs required) × 100. Remaining PDCs are calculated as PDCs required minus PDCs earned. All data is presented with color-coded urgency indicators.

THE PANEL

The renewal reminder panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the SHRM certification page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you track your renewal. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, and renewal tracking preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the renewal reminder does not work standalone. SHRM occasionally updates its page layouts and certification presentation formats, which may temporarily affect renewal data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts renewal data from the visible page content; if certification information is loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment or refresh the page for the panel to populate. Countdown calculations and PDC progress are based on extracted data and are provided as a reference—always verify your actual certification status on the official SHRM platform. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all renewal data extraction, countdown calculations, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser.
