An estimated time remaining calculation helps you plan how much longer your filing will take. Critical forms that still need attention are flagged with reminder badges so nothing gets overlooked.

This script operates on all major tax preparation websites including TurboTax, H&R Block, TaxAct, FreeTaxUSA, TaxSlayer, 1040.com, Credit Karma Tax, and TaxHawk. It works on return preparation pages, form entry views, document upload sections, and review screens. The script automatically detects which platform you're using and adapts its progress tracking strategy to that site's specific interface structure.

HOW TO USE

After installing through the BotGentz extension, simply open your tax preparation website and begin your return. The script automatically starts tracking your progress and displays a visual indicator in the configuration panel. Use the panel to customize your experience: toggle the progress badge on or off, enable or disable inactivity reminders, set the inactivity reminder time, configure auto-save alerts, and control the before-close warning. The panel displays real-time statistics including completion percentage, section progress, and any critical items that need attention. Use the "Check Progress Now" button to manually refresh the progress status, or "Mark as Saved" to acknowledge that you've saved your work.

ACTIVITY AND PROGRESS DETECTION ENGINE

This script implements a multi-layered monitoring system that tracks both user activity and tax filing progress simultaneously. The activity monitoring layer captures user interactions across all input types—keyboard entries, mouse clicks, form submissions, and scrolling—building a continuous activity timeline. The progress detection layer analyzes page content to identify completion indicators specific to each tax platform, using platform-specific patterns to detect section completion, document upload status, form readiness, and review completion. The two layers work together: when the activity layer detects a pause exceeding the configured threshold while the progress layer shows work in progress, the reminder system triggers. The before-unload warning intercepts tab closure attempts, checking both the progress state and activity timestamp to determine if unsaved work exists.

THE PANEL

The configuration panel is fully draggable and remembers its position per-site using GM_setValue. It snaps to screen edges when dragged near them, collapses to a compact bubble when minimized, and supports Escape key for quick collapse. All settings—including badge visibility, inactivity reminder thresholds, alert preferences, and warning toggles—are persisted across sessions.
