About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Airtable Web View Quick-Switcher automatically scans Airtable base and table pages to extract all available views including view names, view types (Grid, Form, Calendar, Gallery, Kanban, List), and identifies the currently active view. The tool displays a floating overlay panel showing a comprehensive list of all views for the current table with quick-switch functionality—click any view to navigate to it instantly. Each view is displayed with a type-specific icon and color-coded indicator: Grid (blue), Form (green), Calendar (yellow), Gallery (purple), Kanban (pink), and List (teal). The currently active view is highlighted with a colored border and bold text. A "Recent Views" section shows your last 5 viewed views for quick access. Keyboard shortcut hints are displayed to remind you of the click-to-switch workflow. All view history is saved per base URL and persists across sessions.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension operates exclusively on airtable.com domain pages that contain base and table content—specifically pages with "/app", "/tbl", or "/api" in the URL path, or pages that display Airtable views and table data. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The view quick-switcher runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All view data extraction, history tracking, and preference storage are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your view activity and navigation preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.

HOW TO USE

After installing both BotGentz and this view quick-switcher, navigate to any Airtable base or table page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying all views for the current table. The "Views" section lists each view with its type icon, name, and a "→" button. Click the "→" button next to any view to switch to it instantly—the page will navigate to that view. The currently active view is highlighted with a colored border. The "Recent" section shows your last 5 viewed views—click any recent view to switch back to it. The panel provides a complete, organized view of all available views and helps you navigate between them quickly.

VIEW DATA EXTRACTION AND NAVIGATION

The view quick-switcher uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse view data from Airtable pages. It first attempts to find structured view elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including view tabs, view items, and navigation elements. When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to text-based parsing, scanning the page for view-related patterns using pattern matching for view type keywords and view name patterns. Each view is classified by type (grid, form, calendar, gallery, kanban, list) with corresponding icons and colors. The active view is identified through class name checks for "active," "selected," or aria-selected attributes. View history is stored using GM_setValue with a key specific to the base URL, tracking up to 10 recent views. The switch functionality attempts to locate and click the view element in the DOM; if the exact view name is not found, it falls back to partial matching.

THE PANEL

The view quick-switcher panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the Airtable base page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you navigate views. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, and view history preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the view quick-switcher does not work standalone. Airtable occasionally updates its page layouts and view presentation formats, which may temporarily affect view data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts view data from the visible page content; if views are loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment or refresh the page for the panel to populate. The view switching functionality relies on DOM element selection and clicking; if Airtable changes its navigation structure, the switching may need updates. View history is stored locally and is for personal reference only—it does not sync with your Airtable account. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all view data extraction, history tracking, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser. This tool is designed for personal Airtable productivity and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Airtable or its parent company. View navigation is subject to Airtable's interface behavior; always verify you are in the correct view after switching.
