It helps users understand informal content—whether from social media, informal communications, or regional dialects—or convert their own writing to be more widely accessible and professional.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool operates as a userscript within the BotGentz extension framework, running directly in your browser on any website. It works on social media posts, informal communications, blogs, forums, marketing content, and virtually any text containing slang or colloquial expressions. The tool integrates seamlessly into your workflow, appearing as a draggable panel that stays accessible as you read and write.

HOW TO USE

Select text on the page and click "Get Text" to extract it automatically, or paste content directly into the panel. Configure your slang settings: choose your preferred explanation style (Simple Definitions, Contextual Explanations, or Standard Equivalents), toggle regional categorization on or off to identify where slang originates, and toggle formal alternatives on or off for professional equivalents. Click "Explain Slang" to send the content to the AI backend. Within moments, you'll receive a detailed breakdown of all slang expressions with clear explanations and standard equivalents. Use the "Copy Explanation" button to save it for reference or share it with others.

TECHNICAL OPERATION

Slang Translator and Explainer employs a multi-strategy extraction pipeline that first checks for selected text, then attempts WebMCP (navigator.modelContext) when available—a W3C proposal for structured page content access—and falls back to full-page content extraction. The user's explanation style preference, regional categorization setting, and formal alternatives toggle are encoded as system-level instructions in the prompt sent to the AI. The text is truncated to 8000 characters and transmitted via GM_xmlhttpRequest to the AI backend. The AI, specifically prompted as a language and slang specialist, scans the text for expressions that deviate from standard formal language, using pattern recognition for common slang constructions, regional variations, and contemporary informal usage. It identifies each term, provides a clear explanation in the selected style, indicates regional origin where applicable, and offers standard or formal equivalents. The output is organized by term with structured explanations for easy reference. Each request is authenticated with a subscription key and counts against your monthly usage cap.

THE PANEL

The Slang Translator and Explainer panel is fully draggable and remembers its position between sessions using GM_setValue. It snaps to the edge of the viewport for a clean interface and can be collapsed to a small icon when not in use. The panel is resizable to accommodate longer content. Press Escape to quickly close or collapse the panel. The design is optimized for productivity with a dark theme, clear visual hierarchy, and responsive controls that adapt to your workflow.
