About this app
WHAT IT DOES
BookBub Web Deal Alert Digest reads deal alerts and book deals from the BookBub homepage and deal pages, and displays a floating digest badge showing the count of new deals available. The badge shows the number of new deals in green with a gold highlight, and a "new deals available" label when there are unviewed deals. The overlay displays a list of recent deal titles, showing up to three titles with a "+ more" indicator for additional deals. The extension tracks which deals have been viewed per session, so you only see new deals you haven't seen before. A notification system alerts you when new deals arrive, with a one-hour cooldown to prevent spam. The panel settings let you control overlay visibility, refresh deals, and toggle notification preferences.
WHERE IT RUNS
This extension works on all BookBub pages at bookbub.com and its subdomains, specifically on the homepage, deal pages, and any page displaying book deals and alert information. It runs on the main feed, the deal listing page, and any page showing promotional book offers. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access BookBub's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.
HOW TO USE
Install the extension, then navigate to bookbub.com and browse your deals. The extension automatically creates a floating deal digest badge on the page showing the count of new deals. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The "Refresh" button manually updates the badge with the latest deal information. The "Show all viewed deals" toggle controls whether previously viewed deals appear in the digest. The "Show notifications" toggle controls desktop notifications for new deals. The opacity dropdown adjusts overlay transparency (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.
DEAL EXTRACTION WITH SESSION-BASED VIEW TRACKING
Unlike simple deal counters, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find deal items from BookBub's varying page structures. It searches for deals using multiple selector patterns (.deal-item, .book-deal, .deal-card) and falls back to text parsing when elements aren't found. For each deal, it extracts the book title, author, current price, and original price. A session-based view tracking system uses a unique session ID to store which deals have been viewed, allowing the extension to show only new deals that have appeared since the user last viewed them. The notification system checks for new deals every time the page updates and sends a desktop notification when new deals are detected, with a one-hour cooldown to prevent notification fatigue. The deal count display updates in real time as you browse.
THE PANEL
The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on bookbub.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, viewed deals visibility, and notification preference, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.
PLEASE NOTE
This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. BookBub's website changes periodically, and deal element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting deals until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, viewed deals preference, notification preference, and session-based viewed deal IDs locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Viewed deals are stored as an array of deal IDs per session ID. The deal count is based on deals visible on the page—the extension does not access BookBub's internal alert data. Always verify with BookBub directly for the most current deal information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for bookbub.com.
