About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Bridge Contract Trust Checker assesses the trustworthiness of a cross-chain bridge contract by analyzing on-chain signals before you interact. The tool reads the bridge contract's bytecode to detect the protocol type, checks for ownership patterns (single owner vs. multi-sig), identifies upgradeability mechanisms (proxy patterns, delegatecall), looks for security features like timelocks, and estimates contract age. It also scans for red flags including selfdestruct opcodes, pause functionality, and unusual ownership controls. The tool then uses AI to generate a plain-language trust assessment that explains the protocol if recognized, who controls the contract, whether it can be upgraded, what that means for your security, and a clear recommendation on whether to interact. Results include a trust level (Low, Medium, or High), a numerical trust score, and a detailed breakdown of detected signals. The tool operates entirely read-only — no transactions are sent, no signatures are required. The AI assessment is designed to inform your decision before you approve any bridge transaction in your wallet.

HOW TO USE

Connect your EVM wallet using the "Connect" button in the header. Select the network where the bridge contract is deployed from the dropdown menu. Enter the bridge contract address you wish to analyze. Optionally enter the protocol name if you know it — this helps the tool provide more accurate recognition. Click "Check trustworthiness" to begin the analysis. The tool fetches the bridge contract bytecode, scans for trust signals including ownership, upgradeability, proxy patterns, and age indicators, and sends the data to the AI for a trust assessment. Results appear within seconds, showing the bridge contract, chain, trust level, trust score, detected protocol, ownership details, upgradeability status, timelock presence, flagged signals, and a comprehensive AI-generated trust assessment written in clear, conversational language.

MULTI-LAYER TRUST SIGNAL DETECTION AND SCORING

The tool uses a comprehensive scoring system to evaluate bridge trustworthiness. It detects the protocol by scanning the bytecode for known bridge names (Across, Stargate, Hop, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Multichain, Connext, Celer) and respects user-provided protocol names for accuracy. The ownership analysis attempts to call owner(), admin(), and governance() functions to identify who controls the contract — single owner addresses are flagged as a central control risk, while multi-sig wallets (detected by address patterns) are scored positively. Upgradeability detection scans for proxy patterns (delegatecall with implementation storage) — upgradeable contracts receive a lower trust score unless a timelock is present. The tool also checks for security features like timelocks (which delay changes) and pause functionality, and flags critical risks like selfdestruct opcodes. Each signal contributes to a trust score from 0-100: protocol recognition adds 15 points, multi-sig adds 15, timelock adds 10, single owner subtracts 10, proxy subtracts 10, and critical flags subtract 30. The AI receives all signals and is prompted to provide a plain-language trust assessment — stating the protocol if recognized, explaining ownership and upgradeability, flagging impersonation attempts, and providing a clear recommendation. The AI is also instructed to state plainly what it cannot verify — that it analyzes on-chain trust signals and patterns, not the team's reputation, operational security, validator integrity, or off-chain infrastructure reliability.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot definitively verify a bridge is trustworthy — only aggregates on-chain trust signals. It cannot detect off-chain operational security, validator integrity, or team reputation — it has no visibility into the team's background, security practices, or infrastructure. The tool cannot verify that audits are genuine or that the audited code matches the deployed contract — it cannot detect forged audit claims or verify audit results on-chain. Legitimate bridges may have unusual patterns or be newly deployed — new protocols with innovative designs may trigger false negatives. The tool cannot predict future exploits — past trust signals do not guarantee future security. The tool cannot detect bridge front-running attacks or MEV risks. The tool cannot verify the bridge's liquidity or operational status. The tool cannot detect if the bridge has been compromised off-chain. The tool cannot verify that the bridge contract matches the official address — always cross-reference with official documentation.

PLEASE NOTE

Bridge Contract Trust Checker supports EVM-compatible chains only (Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, and others). The tool is read-only and never requests wallet signatures or transaction approvals. Trust assessments are AI-generated from on-chain signals — always verify bridge contracts through official project channels before interacting. The AI assessment is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial or legal advice. Never use a bridge you have not independently verified as legitimate through the protocol's official communications. Always double-check that you are interacting with the correct bridge address for your intended chain.
