WHAT IT DOES

Capterra Feature Comparison Overlay scans product pages to extract names, ratings, review counts, pricing, and feature lists. It displays a side-by-side comparison grid for up to 4 products, showing which features each product offers with clear checkmark and X indicators. The comparison includes star ratings, pricing information, and a visual grid that makes feature gaps immediately obvious. Export comparisons as formatted text for documents or as CSV for spreadsheets. Save comparison lists locally so you can continue your research across sessions.

WHERE IT RUNS

Works on any web page, including Capterra, software review sites, and product listing pages. The script uses smart detection to find product cards, feature lists, and review metadata. It works best on Capterra.com but can also detect product information on other review platforms, marketplaces, and software directories. The overlay remains accessible in a floating panel as you browse.

HOW TO USE

Click "Scan Page for Products" to automatically detect all products on the current page. Each detected product appears in the available products list with its name, rating, review count, pricing, and number of features. Click "+ Add" on any product to add it to your comparison list (maximum 4 products). The comparison grid updates in real-time showing features side-by-side, making it easy to spot which products have the features you need. Use "Copy Text" to copy the comparison as a formatted report, or "Copy CSV" to get spreadsheet-ready data. Save your comparison to a named list for later reference.

MECHANISM — SMART FEATURE EXTRACTION WITH MULTI-SOURCE DETECTION

The script uses a multi-strategy approach to extract product data. It first tries to identify product containers using common CSS selectors, then extracts names, ratings, review counts, and pricing from within those containers. Feature lists are extracted from feature-specific elements or derived from product descriptions and bullet points. The extraction engine also falls back to text pattern matching, scanning page text for rating patterns, price formats, and feature-like phrases. This layered approach ensures product detection across various page layouts and formats. All extraction runs entirely client-side with no network calls.

THE PANEL

The floating panel is fully draggable and remembers its position per domain. Click the minimize button to collapse it to a small bubble, or press Escape to hide it. The panel automatically adjusts to different screen sizes and can be resized to show more content. All settings, including saved comparison lists, are stored locally and persist across sessions. The panel integrates smoothly with any page layout using the BGPanel framework, maintaining clean separation from page content.

PLEASE NOTE

This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. It does not send any data to external servers; all extracted product data and saved comparisons remain entirely local to your browser using GM_setValue. The script never reads password fields, hidden inputs, or file inputs. It stores only product names, features, ratings, and pricing information from publicly visible page content. Product detection depends on the page structure; if products are not detected, use the "Scan Page" button to retry. Data persists across browser sessions and is isolated per browser profile.
