Etsy Listing SEO Score Overlay is a powerful optimization tool that analyzes your Etsy listings and provides a clear SEO score out of 100. It examines four critical elements: title length and quality, tag completeness and uniqueness, description depth and keyword usage, and category selection. The script evaluates your listing against Etsy's best practices—checking for optimal title length (40-80 characters), proper use of all 13 available tags, description length (150-300 words), and keyword density. Each area receives a percentage score, and the weighted average produces your overall SEO score. Beyond the numbers, the tool generates specific, actionable recommendations to improve your listing's visibility in Etsy search results. Whether you're a new seller or an experienced shop owner, this tool helps you identify exactly what to fix to rank higher and attract more buyers.

WHERE IT RUNS

This script runs exclusively on Etsy listing pages (*.etsy.com/listing/*). It operates entirely within your browser tab, reading the page's DOM to extract title, description, tags, category, price, and shop information. The script cannot access other tabs, your browsing history, bookmarks, downloads, or any data outside the current listing page. All settings—including score weights, minimum title length, and recommendation visibility—are stored locally using GM_setValue and never transmitted anywhere.

HOW TO USE

After installing with the BotGentz extension, the script automatically analyzes any Etsy listing you view. The panel displays your SEO score as a large number with a color-coded circle (green for excellent, yellow for good, orange for needs work, red for significant improvement needed). Below the score, you'll see a breakdown of your performance in each category—Title, Tags, Description, and Category—with individual percentages. Expand the details section to see specific metrics like title length, word count, tag count, and description length. The recommendations section provides prioritized, actionable steps to improve your listing, such as "Title is too short (32 chars). Aim for 40-80 characters" or "Add 3 more tags to reach all 13 available." Click "Copy Analysis" to export the full report to your clipboard for reference or sharing.

THE REAL MECHANISM

The script uses a multi-selector DOM extraction strategy to locate listing elements regardless of Etsy's frequently changing class names and test IDs. It queries for title, description, tags, and category using multiple fallback selectors that match different Etsy page versions. For titles, it checks length (ideal 40-80 characters), word count (5-10 words), keyword diversity using unique word ratios, and capitalization. For tags, it counts total tags (Etsy allows 13), analyzes average tag word length (2-3 words per tag is ideal), checks for duplicates using Set comparison, and evaluates tag quality. For descriptions, it measures word count (150-300 words is optimal), checks keyword density by comparing title words to description text, looks for structural elements like paragraphs and punctuation, and detects specific details like materials or dimensions using regular expression patterns. Each category is scored independently with a weighted scoring function, then combined using user-configurable weights (default: 35% title, 30% tags, 20% description, 15% category). Recommendations are generated from conditional failures in the scoring logic, filtered to remove duplicates, and ranked by priority.

THE PANEL

The Etsy Listing SEO Score panel is a BGPanel component that you can drag anywhere on your screen by its header. It snaps to the nearest edge when released, keeping your workspace organized. The panel collapses to a small bubble showing only the emoji icon when minimised—click to expand it again. You can resize the panel horizontally to see more of the analysis results. Press the Escape key to collapse the panel instantly. Your panel position and size are saved per-site, so it remembers where you like it on your Etsy dashboard.

PLEASE NOTE

This script requires the free BotGentz browser extension to function. Etsy frequently updates its website layout, which may change class names, data-testid attributes, and DOM structure. If the script cannot find listing data, use the "Analyze SEO" button to retry extraction. The SEO score is based on Etsy's current best practices and search algorithm signals—individual results may vary based on competition, niche, and other ranking factors. Use the recommendations as a guide rather than absolute rules. The script never reads or writes password fields, hidden inputs, or file inputs. It stores only your weight preferences, minimum title length, and show recommendations toggle locally. No listing data, SEO scores, or personal information is ever collected, transmitted, or shared.
