WHAT IT DOES

Every Time Zone Web Overlap Highlighter automatically scans Every Time Zone time zone comparison pages to extract time zone data, current times, and time zone offsets. The tool identifies overlapping time windows across time zones by checking which zones are within business hours (8 AM - 6 PM local time). A floating overlay panel displays a summary of time zone overlaps with color-coded indicators—time zones in business hours are highlighted in green with a border. The panel shows all detected time zones with their current times and UTC offsets, and clearly marks which zones are overlapping. A summary shows the number of overlapping time zones and the times at which overlap occurs. Non-overlapping zones are also listed for reference. This provides a quick visual reference for scheduling meetings across multiple time zones.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension operates exclusively on everytimezone.com domain pages that contain time zone comparison content—specifically pages with "/time" or "/zone" in the URL path, or pages that display time zone listings and comparisons. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The overlap highlighter runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All time zone data extraction, overlap analysis, and preference storage are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your scheduling data and tracking preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.

HOW TO USE

After installing both BotGentz and this overlap highlighter, navigate to any Every Time Zone time zone comparison page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying a list of all detected time zones with their current times and UTC offsets. The "Overlap Summary" section shows how many time zones are currently in business hours. The "Overlapping Zones" section lists all time zones that are currently within business hours. The "Non-Overlapping" section shows time zones outside business hours. The panel provides a complete, visual reference for finding the best meeting times across time zones.

TIME ZONE DATA EXTRACTION AND OVERLAP ANALYSIS

The overlap highlighter uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse time zone data from Every Time Zone pages. It first attempts to find structured time zone elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including zone items, time zone rows, and location rows. When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to text-based parsing, scanning the page for time zone-related patterns using pattern matching for location names, time formats, and offset indicators. Time zone names are extracted from elements or through pattern matching for location names. Current times are extracted through pattern matching for time formats (HH:MM AM/PM). Offsets are extracted through pattern matching for plus/minus values. Overlap analysis uses a business hours heuristic (8 AM - 6 PM local time) to determine which time zones are currently in a reasonable working window for meetings. Time zones within business hours are highlighted with green indicators and borders. All data is presented in a clean, organized panel with color-coded indicators.

THE PANEL

The overlap highlighter panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the Every Time Zone page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you plan meetings. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, and time zone tracking preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the overlap highlighter does not work standalone. Every Time Zone occasionally updates its page layouts and time zone presentation formats, which may temporarily affect time zone data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts time zone data from the visible page content; if time zone information is loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment or refresh the page for the panel to populate. The business hours heuristic (8 AM - 6 PM) is a general guideline and may not match all participants' working hours—adjust based on your specific meeting needs. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all time zone data extraction, overlap analysis, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser.
