WHAT IT DOES

Fan Fiction Site Bookmark Organizer helps you keep track of the fan fiction stories you love. The script detects story pages on supported sites and extracts metadata including title, author, fandom, pairing, rating, word count, chapters, status, and summary. A one-click bookmark button appears on story pages—click it to save the story to your local library. Bookmarks are organized by fandom, pairing, status, or rating, with customizable tags and personal notes. Reading progress tracking lets you record how much of each story you've read. The dashboard displays all your bookmarks with filtering and search capabilities. You can export your entire library as CSV or JSON for backup or sharing. The script checks for story updates and notifies you when new chapters are published.

WHERE IT RUNS

This script runs on major fan fiction sites including Archive of Our Own (AO3), FanFiction.net, Wattpad, Quotev, and FictionPress. It works on story pages, chapter views, and author pages, automatically detecting story metadata and adding bookmark buttons. The script adapts to each site's specific layout.

HOW TO USE

After installing through the BotGentz extension, navigate to any supported fan fiction story page. A "Bookmark Story" button appears—click it to save the story. You'll be prompted to add tags and a personal note. Use the configuration panel to customize your experience: toggle the bookmark button on or off, enable or disable auto-detection, choose how to organize your bookmarks (by fandom, pairing, status, or rating), show or hide reading progress, enable or disable update notifications, and set the check interval for story updates. The panel displays real-time statistics including total bookmarks, complete vs. ongoing stories, and total words read. Use the "Export Bookmarks" buttons to copy your library as CSV or JSON.

PLATFORM-ADAPTIVE METADATA EXTRACTION WITH TAG-BASED ORGANIZATION

This script implements a metadata extraction engine with platform-specific selectors for each supported fan fiction site. The engine uses CSS selectors tailored to AO3, FanFiction.net, Wattpad, Quotev, and FictionPress to extract title, author, fandom, pairing, rating, word count, chapters, status, and summary. The bookmark storage system uses GM_setValue with a structured format that stores full metadata, user-added tags, notes, reading progress (0-100%), and timestamps. The organization engine groups bookmarks by the selected key (fandom, pairing, status, or rating) with sub-grouping. The update notification system compares stored chapter counts against current page data and triggers GM_notification when new chapters are detected.

THE PANEL

The configuration panel is fully draggable and remembers its position per-site using GM_setValue. It snaps to screen edges when dragged near them, collapses to a compact bubble when minimized, and supports Escape key for quick collapse. All settings—including button visibility, auto-detection, organization preference, progress display, update notifications, and check interval—are persisted across sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. The script runs on supported fan fiction sites and reads story metadata to save as bookmarks. It does not capture, store, or transmit any personal information. All bookmark data is stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue and never transmitted to external servers. The script only saves metadata you explicitly bookmark—it does not automatically track your reading activity. Update notifications rely on the page data at the time of checking and may not catch all updates. This tool is provided for organizational and informational purposes only.
