About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Flight Search Layover Duration Highlighter automatically detects flight search results on travel booking sites and identifies layover durations between flight segments. It color-codes each layover — green for optimal duration, yellow for acceptable, and red for too short or too long — and adds a compact badge showing the exact layover time. Flights with layover durations within your ideal range are highlighted with a green border. This helps you quickly spot flights with comfortable connection times, avoid stressful short layovers, and skip excessively long waits, making flight comparison faster and more informed.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on any website that displays flight search results. It functions on travel booking sites, airline websites, aggregators, and any page showing flight itineraries with layover information. The tool works across all domains and adapts to various layout formats and duration display styles.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension and navigate to any flight search results page. The tool automatically detects flight options and adds layover duration badges with color-coding. Use the overlay panel to customize the experience: set the minimum ideal layover in minutes (default 60), set the maximum ideal layover in minutes (default 180), toggle the duration badge visibility on or off, toggle flight highlighting on or off, and click "Refresh Flights" to manually re-process the page after loading new results. The status area shows how many flights were processed.

TECHNICAL SECTION — LAYOVER DURATION DETECTION AND COLOR-CODING

The extension uses a multi-strategy detection engine to find flight results and extract layover durations. It queries common flight result selectors and scans text content for layover-related patterns including "layover," "stop," "wait," and "connection." Duration strings in formats like "2h 30m," "1h," "45m," and "2 hours" are parsed to total minutes using regex extraction. Once a layover duration is identified, it is compared against the user's min and max ideal thresholds. Durations below the minimum are colored red ("Too Short"), within the range are green ("Optimal"), up to 1.5x the max are yellow ("Acceptable"), and above that are red ("Too Long"). A compact badge is inserted into each flight result showing the formatted duration and category label. Flights with optimal layovers are highlighted with a green border.

THE PANEL — DRAG / PER-SITE POSITION / SNAP / COLLAPSE / RESIZE / ESCAPE

The overlay panel is fully interactive and designed for seamless multitasking. Drag it anywhere on the screen using the handle at the top of the panel; the position is saved per site so it stays where you left it across sessions. The panel includes a snap-to-edge feature that gently anchors the overlay to the nearest screen edge when released. Click the collapse button to minimize the panel to a compact pill showing the current layover status; expand it again with a single click. Resize the panel vertically by dragging the bottom-right corner to view more controls. Press the Escape key at any time to instantly close the overlay; it reappears on the next page navigation or refresh.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz companion extension to function, as it provides the underlying content script injection and cross-origin communication framework. No personal data, browsing history, or flight data is stored, transmitted, or shared. Settings are stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue and are never sent to any external server. The extension does not access or store login credentials, financial data, or personally identifiable information. The tool reads flight information visible on the page and does not access any site API or private data. Layover detection accuracy depends on the page structure and duration format; some sites may use non-standard formats that the tool may not detect. The color-coding thresholds are user-configurable and should be adjusted to match personal preferences and airline connection requirements.
