WHAT IT DOES

Flipboard Web Magazine Organizer reads your magazine list from the Flipboard web interface and presents it in a clean, organized panel. For each magazine, it displays the name, article count, and last updated date. You can sort magazines alphabetically by name or by last updated date to quickly find your most recently active or most relevant publications. Each magazine has a clickable row that opens the magazine in a new tab for easy navigation. The extension also provides a per-magazine note-taking feature, allowing you to attach research notes, topic ideas, or any other information to individual magazines. These notes persist locally and are visible whenever you revisit the panel. The total magazine count is displayed at the top, giving you a quick overview of your collection.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all Flipboard pages at flipboard.com and its subdomains, specifically on the user's magazine list page and the main dashboard where magazines are displayed. It runs on the "My Magazines" view, the profile page, and any page showing magazine collections. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access Flipboard's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to flipboard.com and go to your magazine list. The extension automatically detects all magazines and displays them in a panel. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the panel. Use the dropdown menu to sort magazines by Name or Last Updated. Click any magazine row to open it in a new tab. To add a note to a magazine, click the note input field next to the magazine, type your note, and it saves automatically when you click away. A blue left border indicates a magazine that has a saved note. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the panel with the latest magazine data. The "Clear All Notes" button removes all saved notes at once.

ADAPTIVE MAGAZINE EXTRACTION WITH MULTI-PATTERN DETECTION

Unlike simple scrapers that rely on a single CSS selector, this extension uses an adaptive extraction engine with a fallback chain of magazine selectors. It attempts multiple selector patterns to locate magazine items—including .magazine-item, .magazine-card, .collection-item, and board-based selectors—testing each in priority order. For each magazine, the engine extracts the name using a prioritized list of name selectors, then falls back to data attributes or plain text parsing if needed. The article count extraction handles various number formats using flexible regex patterns. The date parser normalizes common Flipboard date formats like "Updated 2 days ago," "Last updated on Mar 15," and other variations, converting them to timestamps for reliable sorting. This multi-pattern, multi-source approach ensures reliable magazine detection across different versions of Flipboard's interface.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on flipboard.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, sort preference, and magazine notes, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. Flipboard's website changes periodically, and magazine element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting magazines until an update is released. The extension stores your sort preference, all magazine notes, and per-magazine data locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Magazine notes are stored as a key-value object where keys are magazine IDs and values are note text. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. The extension does not read or store your Flipboard login credentials, email, or any identifying information. It only reads publicly visible magazine data from the page. You can clear all stored settings and notes at any time using the "Clear All Notes" button or by clearing your browser data for flipboard.com.
