The estimate is calculated based on the product's retail price and condition—65% of retail for new/mint gear, 50% for used/pre-owned, and 35% for poor/fair condition. The overlay shows the estimated dollar amount, the condition label, and the percentage of retail value. A condition adjustment setting lets you fine-tune the estimate. The extension tracks trade-in estimate history per gear item, storing each estimate with the date, price, and condition. The badge is fully draggable, resizable, and remembers its position, size, and opacity across sessions.

This extension works on all Guitar Center pages at guitarcenter.com and its subdomains, specifically on product detail pages where gear pricing and condition are displayed. It runs on the main product view, the gear listing page, and any page showing product pricing information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access Guitar Center's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to guitarcenter.com and open any gear product page. The extension automatically creates a floating trade-in estimate overlay on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The overlay shows the estimated trade-in value, condition label, and retail price reference. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the overlay with the latest product information. Adjust the condition adjustment using the dropdown—Poor (-10%), Standard, Good (+10%), or Excellent (+20%)—to fine-tune the estimate. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.

CONDITION-BASED TRADE-IN CALCULATION WITH PER-ITEM HISTORY TRACKING

Unlike simple value calculators, this extension uses a condition-aware estimation engine that applies different trade-in rates based on the product's condition—new gear trades in at approximately 65% of retail, used gear at 50%, and poor condition at 35%. The condition is detected from the page using condition selectors and keyword matching (new, used, pre-owned, vintage, poor, fair, damaged). A user-adjustable condition factor (from -10% to +20%) allows fine-tuning of the estimate to account for specific market conditions or personal assessment. Trade-in estimate history is stored per gear item using a normalized key derived from the product name, with each record containing the estimate amount, retail price, condition, and timestamp, limited to 20 entries per item. The estimate is rounded to the nearest $10 for a clean display.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on guitarcenter.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, condition adjustment, and trade-in history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. Guitar Center's website changes periodically, and product element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting product data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, condition adjustment, and per-item trade-in history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Trade-in history is stored as a key-value object where keys are product identifiers and values are arrays of estimate records. The trade-in estimate is a rough approximation based on retail price and condition—actual trade-in values may vary based on market conditions, gear demand, and Guitar Center's current trade-in policies. Always check with Guitar Center directly for an accurate trade-in assessment. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected.
