Internal Wiki Link Inserter

WHAT IT DOES

Internal Wiki Link Inserter is a floating panel that stores and manages internal wiki page links. Save wiki links with titles and URLs for quick access. Create, edit, or delete links. Search through your collection by title or URL. Click a link to insert it as a formatted wiki link [[title|url]] into the active text field, or use the "Open" button to open it in a new tab. This saves time when referencing internal wiki pages in tickets, emails, or documentation.

WHERE IT RUNS

This script runs on any website you visit. It reads only the page you are looking at, never other tabs, bookmarks, or browser data. All data stays in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere.

HOW TO USE

Click the Internal Wiki Link Inserter panel button in the BotGentz extension toolbar. The panel appears at the edge of the page. To add a link, enter a title and URL, then click "Save". To use a link, click it — it inserts a formatted wiki link into the active input field. Use the "Open" button to open the URL in a new tab. Search links using the search box. Edit or delete links using the buttons on each link. Import/export links for backup or sharing.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

Links are stored as an array of objects with title and url properties, persisted using GM_setValue and restored with GM_getValue. Clicking a link checks the active element — if it's an input, textarea, or contenteditable, it inserts the link as [[title|url]] at the cursor position using document.execCommand or direct value manipulation with selection handling. If no active input is found, it copies the formatted link to clipboard using GM_setClipboard. The "Open" button uses GM_openInTab to open URLs in a new tab. The search filters links by title or URL in real time. All operations run client-side in pure JavaScript.

THE PANEL

The panel is a floating overlay that you can drag anywhere on the screen by its header. It remembers its position per site so it reappears where you left it. The panel can be collapsed into a small handle to get it out of the way, and snapped to the edge of the page. It can be resized to fit your workflow. Press Escape to close the panel.

This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. All data stays in your browser — nothing is transmitted or shared. The panel works on any website. The script inserts a wiki-formatted link into the active input field if you are focused on one — if not, it copies to clipboard. Sites change — the script may need updates to match new site structures.
