About this app
WHAT IT DOES
JOANN Web Class Schedule Overlay reads class schedule and workshop information from JOANN store locator and class pages and displays a floating class schedule overlay showing upcoming classes by store. The badge shows the total number of available classes, a list of class titles with dates, and store locations where classes are offered. Each class is tracked with its title, date, time, and store location. The extension tracks class viewing history per session, so you can see which classes you've already viewed. A notification system alerts you when new classes are available, with a one-hour cooldown to prevent spam. The panel settings let you control overlay visibility, refresh classes, toggle past classes visibility, and adjust notification preferences.
WHERE IT RUNS
This extension works on all JOANN pages at joann.com and its subdomains, specifically on the store locator, class pages, and any page displaying workshop information. It runs on the class schedule page, the store finder page, and any page showing class offerings. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access JOANN's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.
HOW TO USE
Install the extension, then navigate to joann.com and browse for classes. The extension automatically creates a floating class schedule overlay on the page showing the count of available classes. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The "Refresh" button manually updates the badge with the latest class information. The "Show past classes" toggle controls whether past classes appear in the digest. The "Show notifications" toggle controls desktop notifications for new classes. The opacity dropdown adjusts overlay transparency (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.
CLASS EXTRACTION WITH STORE LOCATION DETECTION AND SESSION-BASED VIEW TRACKING
Unlike simple class counters, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find class items from JOANN's varying page structures. It searches for classes using multiple selector patterns (.class-item, .workshop-item, .event-item) and falls back to text parsing. For each class, it extracts the title, date and time using pattern matching, and store location using store selectors. Date detection uses multiple date format patterns (MM/DD/YYYY, Month D, YYYY, Month D) and time patterns (HH:MM AM/PM, HH:MM). Session-based view tracking uses a unique session ID to store which classes have been viewed, showing only classes that haven't been seen before. The notification system checks for new classes every time the page updates and sends a desktop notification with a one-hour cooldown.
THE PANEL
The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on joann.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, past classes visibility, notification preference, and class history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.
PLEASE NOTE
This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. JOANN's website changes periodically, and class element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting classes until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, past classes preference, notification preference, and session-based viewed class IDs locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Viewed classes are stored as an array of class IDs per session ID. The class count is based on classes visible on the page—the extension does not access JOANN's internal class registration data. Always verify with JOANN directly for the most current class and registration information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for joann.com.
