About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Letterboxd Diary Streak Reminder helps you build and maintain a daily film logging habit by tracking your diary streak on Letterboxd. The script detects diary entries and calculates your current streak—consecutive days with at least one logged film. A visible badge shows your current streak count and best streak, with color-coded urgency indicators: green for active streak, yellow for approaching break, orange for at risk, and red for broken. A countdown shows how much time you have left to log a film today to maintain your streak. A calendar heatmap visualizes your diary activity over the past six weeks, making it easy to spot patterns. Gentle reminders notify you when your streak is at risk. Streak history tracks your progress over time. The dashboard shows logging frequency and total days logged.

WHERE IT RUNS

This script runs on Letterboxd, specifically on diary pages, profile pages, and any page displaying diary entries or film logs. It works on both desktop and mobile views, automatically detecting diary entries and logging activity.

HOW TO USE

After installing through the BotGentz extension, navigate to your Letterboxd diary or profile page. The script automatically scans your diary entries and displays your current streak. A badge shows your streak count and status. The configuration panel displays the full dashboard—current streak, best streak, total logs, status, countdown to deadline, calendar heatmap, and streak history. Use the configuration panel to customize your experience: toggle the streak badge on or off, show or hide the calendar, enable or disable reminders, set the reminder time (e.g., 20:00), show or hide history, and set the auto-refresh interval in seconds. Use the "Scan Diary" button to manually re-scan, or "Export" to copy a streak report to your clipboard.

DIARY ENTRY DETECTION WITH STREAK CALCULATION AND CALENDAR VISUALIZATION

This script implements a diary entry detection engine using DOM traversal with platform-specific selectors for Letterboxd's diary elements (.diary-entry, .review, .film, .log-entry). The engine extracts dates from diary entries using multiple strategies—direct date parsing, "X days ago" pattern matching, and data attributes. The streak calculation engine sorts dates, removes duplicates, and counts consecutive days from the most recent entry backwards. The status classification uses current streak and today's logging status to determine urgency levels. The calendar heatmap visualizes activity across the past 42 days with color-coded cells. The history tracking stores streak snapshots for trend analysis. The reminder system checks the current time against the configured reminder time and triggers GM_notification when the streak is at risk.

THE PANEL

The configuration panel is fully draggable and remembers its position per-site using GM_setValue. It snaps to screen edges when dragged near them, collapses to a compact bubble when minimized, and supports Escape key for quick collapse. All settings—including badge visibility, calendar display, reminders, reminder time, history display, and auto-refresh interval—are persisted across sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. The script runs on Letterboxd and reads diary entry data from the page. It does not capture, store, or transmit any personal information. All streak data and history are stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue and never transmitted to external servers. The script reads only publicly visible diary information displayed on the page. Due to Letterboxd's page structure, the script may only detect diary entries visible on the current page. For complete streak tracking, ensure you are viewing your full diary or use the auto-refresh feature. This tool is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only.
