About this app

WHAT IT DOES

LP Token Backing Explainer analyzes what an LP token is backed by and explains the risk before you buy or hold it. The tool reads the LP token contract and the underlying liquidity pool to detect the token pair, pool liquidity balances, total LP supply, LP token price, pool TVL, and holder count. It calculates the backing ratio (how much of the pool's assets back each LP token) and detects concerning patterns like low backing ratio, large price divergence, unusual token pairs, owner controls, and upgradeability. The tool then uses AI to generate a plain-language explanation of the LP token's backing: what assets are in the pool, how much of each token backs each LP token, the current backing ratio, and the risk of price divergence or impermanent loss. Results include a risk level, backing grade (A-F), backing ratio, token pair, token balances, LP supply, LP price, TVL, holder count, ownership status, upgradeability, flags, and a comprehensive AI-generated explanation. The tool operates entirely read-only — no transactions are sent, no signatures are required. The AI assessment is designed to help you understand the true value and risk of an LP token before you buy or hold it.

HOW TO USE

Connect your EVM wallet using the "Connect" button in the header. Select the network where the LP token is deployed from the dropdown menu. Enter the LP token contract address you wish to analyze. Optionally enter the liquidity pool address if you know it — this helps the tool provide more accurate data. Click "Explain LP token backing" to begin the analysis. The tool reads the LP token and pool contracts to fetch token pair, liquidity balances, total supply, and other metrics, calculates the backing ratio, and sends the data to the AI for a plain-English LP backing explanation. Results appear within seconds, showing the LP token contract, chain, risk level, backing grade, backing ratio, token pair, token balances, LP supply, LP price, TVL, holder count, ownership status, upgradeability, flags, and a comprehensive AI-generated explanation written in clear, conversational language.

LP BACKING CALCULATION AND RISK SCORING

The tool uses a multi-step approach to calculate LP token backing. It reads the LP token contract to get the total supply, holder count, and ownership status. It then identifies the underlying liquidity pool and reads the token pair addresses and liquidity balances. The TVL is calculated as the sum of both token balances. The LP token price is calculated as (TVL / total LP supply). The backing ratio is calculated as (current LP price / theoretical value) × 100%, with the theoretical value based on the pool's assets. The backing grade (A-F) is determined by the backing ratio: A (95%+), B (85-94%), C (75-84%), D (60-74%), F (below 60%). The risk score is calculated based on: backing ratio under 80% (2 points) or under 90% (1 point), owner controls (1 point), upgradeability (1 point), and low holder count under 50 (1 point). The AI receives all this data and is prompted to explain the LP token's backing in plain language — stating what assets are in the pool, how much of each token backs each LP token, the current backing ratio, and the risk of price divergence or impermanent loss. The AI is also instructed to state plainly what it cannot verify — that it reads on-chain pool balances and calculates backing, not off-chain price oracles, future price changes, or the legitimacy of the underlying tokens.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot definitively verify that an LP token is properly backed — only reads on-chain liquidity and calculates backing. It cannot detect off-chain price manipulation or oracle failures — prices may be manipulated by external actors. The tool cannot predict future price changes or liquidity fluctuations — LP token value can change rapidly. Legitimate LP tokens may have temporary price divergence due to market conditions — short-term divergence does not necessarily indicate a problem. The tool cannot verify the legitimacy of the underlying tokens — it only reads their balances. The tool cannot detect if the LP token has been exploited or hacked. The tool cannot detect if the underlying tokens are scams. The tool cannot predict the future performance of the LP token. The tool cannot detect if the pool has been drained or if liquidity has been removed. The tool cannot verify that the LP token is correctly minted or that the supply is accurate.

PLEASE NOTE

LP Token Backing Explainer supports EVM-compatible chains only (Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, and others). The tool is read-only and never requests wallet signatures or transaction approvals. LP backing assessments are AI-generated from on-chain data and estimated metrics — always verify LP token backing through the DEX's official interface, block explorers, and independent research before buying or holding LP tokens. The AI assessment is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial or legal advice. LP tokens carry risks including impermanent loss, price divergence, and liquidity removal — never invest more than you can afford to lose.
