HOW TO USE

Connect your wallet to the tool and select the network where your CTC contract is deployed. Enter the CTC contract address and L1 RPC endpoint in the input fields. Click "Monitor CTC" to connect to the CTC contract and retrieve its state. The tool will query the contract for block number, transaction count, batch count, state roots, deposit/withdrawal counts, gas price, sync status, and finalization status. Results are displayed in organized cards showing CTC status, block number, transaction count, batch count, batch size, L1 state root, L2 state root, deposits, withdrawals, gas price, sync status, and finalization status. The tool works with any Optimism CTC contract accessible via RPC endpoint.

THE MECHANISM

Optimism Canonical Transaction Chain Monitor performs client-side monitoring of the CTC contract by querying its state variables and transaction history. The tool connects to the CTC contract using the provided address and queries chain data including block number and transaction count. Transaction roots are obtained from the chain provenance or merkle root storage. Batch submission counts and batch sizes are tracked from batch submission events or state variables. L1 and L2 state roots are read from the contract's state root storage. Deposit and withdrawal counts are obtained from deposit and withdrawal event logs or counters. Gas oracle state and gas price estimates are fetched from the Optimism gas oracle contract. Sync status is determined from the last verified block or checkpoint. Finalization status is derived from the fraud proof window and verification state. The tool simulates the process of querying the CTC contract, parsing its state, and aggregating data from multiple sources.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

Optimism Canonical Transaction Chain Monitor cannot verify that the canonical transaction chain is accurate without comparing with L1 data, as that requires cross-layer verification. The tool cannot detect if transactions are being censored or omitted from the chain, as censorship detection requires transaction tracing. It cannot prove that the chain state matches the actual L2 state without running a full node. The tool cannot predict batch submission delays or rollup performance issues, as those depend on future conditions. It cannot guarantee that the chain will remain available or responsive, as network conditions may change. The tool also cannot detect if the CTC contract has been compromised or if the RPC endpoint is providing stale data.
