About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Outlook Web Template Inserter is a floating panel that stores and manages email templates for Outlook Web. Create templates with a name and content. Edit or delete existing templates. Search through your templates by name or content. Click a template to insert it directly into the Outlook compose window, or use the "Copy" button to copy it to your clipboard. This saves time when writing repetitive email replies in Outlook Web.
WHERE IT RUNS
This script runs on Outlook Web (https://outlook.office.com/*). It reads only the page you are looking at, never other tabs, bookmarks, or browser data. All data stays in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere.
HOW TO USE
Open Outlook Web and start composing a new message. Click the Outlook Web Template Inserter panel button in the BotGentz extension toolbar. The panel appears at the edge of the page. To create a template, enter a name and content, then click "Save". To use a template, click it — it inserts into the compose window automatically. Use the "Copy" button to copy without inserting. Search templates using the search box. Edit or delete templates using the buttons on each template. Import/export templates for backup or sharing.
TECHNICAL MECHANISM
Templates are stored as an array of objects with name and content properties, persisted using GM_setValue and restored with GM_getValue. Clicking a template finds the Outlook compose field using selectors for contenteditable elements ([contenteditable="true"][role="textbox"], .compose-content, .msg-compose-body, etc.) with a fallback that finds any visible contenteditable div. It then inserts the template content at the cursor position using document.execCommand('insertText') and dispatches input events to trigger Outlook's reactivity. If no compose field is found, it copies to clipboard using GM_setClipboard. The search filters templates by name or content in real time.
THE PANEL
The panel is a floating overlay that you can drag anywhere on the screen by its header. It remembers its position per site so it reappears where you left it. The panel can be collapsed into a small handle to get it out of the way, and snapped to the edge of the page. It can be resized to fit your workflow. Press Escape to close the panel.
PLEASE NOTE
This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. All data stays in your browser — nothing is transmitted or shared. The script runs on outlook.office.com and inserts text into the compose window if you have one open. Outlook's interface may change — the script may need updates to match new selectors.
