About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Password Strength Meter intercepts password input fields on the current page, analyzes password strength in real-time based on length, character variety, common patterns, and breached password checks (local wordlist), displaying a strength meter and improvement suggestions directly on the page. The tool helps users create stronger passwords by providing immediate feedback as they type, encouraging better security practices without requiring them to visit external websites.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool works on any webpage that includes password input fields, including login forms, registration pages, password reset forms, and account management interfaces. It automatically detects and attaches to password fields as they appear, including dynamically generated fields in single-page applications. It runs on all websites as designated in its match patterns.

HOW TO USE

After installing the BotGentz extension, the tool automatically scans for password input fields on the current page and attaches a strength meter below each one. As you type a password, the meter updates in real-time with a visual bar, strength label (Very Weak, Weak, Good, or Strong), and a percentage score. The tool analyzes length, uppercase/lowercase letters, numbers, special characters, common passwords, sequential patterns, repeated characters, and keyboard patterns. Configure your requirements using the panel settings: minimum password length, require uppercase, require numbers, require special characters, show strength meter, and show improvement tips. When enabled, improvement tips appear below the meter with actionable suggestions for strengthening your password.

TECHNICAL SECTION — MULTI-FACTOR PASSWORD ANALYSIS ENGINE

Unlike simple length-based password checkers, this tool uses a multi-factor analysis engine that evaluates passwords across nine distinct security dimensions. It checks length against configurable minimums, verifies character variety (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, special characters), detects common passwords using a built-in wordlist of frequently breached passwords, identifies sequential patterns (abc, 123), detects repeated characters, and recognizes keyboard patterns (qwerty, asdf). Each factor contributes to a weighted score that is normalized to a 0-100 scale. The engine also supports configurable requirements, allowing administrators or users to enforce specific password policies. The analysis runs entirely in the browser with no network requests, ensuring privacy and speed.

THE PANEL

The panel is draggable anywhere on the screen and remembers its position per site. It can snap to the left, right, top, or bottom edges, or float freely. Collapse it to a small status indicator when you need more page visibility, and expand it again with a single click. Resize it vertically or horizontally to see more settings. Press Escape to close the panel instantly. All settings (min length, require uppercase, require numbers, require special, show meter, show tips) are saved globally and persist across sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This tool requires the free BotGentz extension. All password analysis happens locally in your browser—no password data is ever transmitted, stored, or shared. The common password list is a simplified reference and may not include all compromised passwords. For comprehensive breach checking, consider using dedicated password managers with breach detection. Websites change their layouts and password field implementations frequently; scripts may need updates, and we work to keep them current but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation.
