WHAT IT DOES

Peacock Skip Recap Automator detects the "Skip Recap" button on the Peacock video player and automatically clicks it the moment it appears, saving you from manually clicking it every time. The tool works in the background while you watch shows, eliminating recap sequences without any intervention. A per-session toggle lets you enable or disable auto-skip, and optional notifications confirm when a recap has been skipped. The tool also tracks the number of recaps skipped during your session.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works exclusively on Peacock at www.peacocktv.com. It functions on the video player screen during episode playback, including TV shows that display a Skip Recap button. The tool works across all Peacock regions and adapts to the player's dynamic interface.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension and start playing any show on Peacock with recap sequences. The tool automatically detects and clicks the Skip Recap button when it appears. Use the overlay panel to control the behavior: toggle "Auto-skip recap" on or off, adjust the skip delay in milliseconds (default 300ms) to fine-tune the timing, toggle notifications on or off, and view the number of recaps skipped during the current session. Click "Skip Now" to manually skip the recap if auto-skip is disabled. Click "Reset Counter" to reset the skip count. The status area shows whether the tool is active.

TECHNICAL SECTION — SKIP RECAP BUTTON DETECTION AND AUTOMATION

The extension uses a multi-strategy detection engine to find the Skip Recap button on Peacock's video player. It queries known selectors including [data-testid="skip-recap-button"], .skip-recap-button, and pattern-matching class names. It also scans all buttons on the page for text containing "Skip" or "Recap" as a fallback. A MutationObserver monitors the DOM for changes, detecting when the Skip Recap button is dynamically added to the page. When the button is detected and auto-skip is enabled, the tool clicks the button after a configurable delay (default 300ms) to ensure the button is fully rendered and interactive. The skip count is tracked in memory for the current session, and notifications are sent via GM_notification when enabled.

THE PANEL — DRAG / PER-SITE POSITION / SNAP / COLLAPSE / RESIZE / ESCAPE

The overlay panel is fully interactive and designed for seamless multitasking. Drag it anywhere on the screen using the handle at the top of the panel; the position is saved per site so it stays where you left it across sessions. The panel includes a snap-to-edge feature that gently anchors the overlay to the nearest screen edge when released. Click the collapse button to minimize the panel to a compact pill showing the current skip status; expand it again with a single click. Resize the panel vertically by dragging the bottom-right corner to view more controls. Press the Escape key at any time to instantly close the overlay; it reappears on the next page navigation or refresh.

This extension requires the free BotGentz companion extension to function, as it provides the underlying content script injection and cross-origin communication framework. No personal data, browsing history, or Peacock activity is stored, transmitted, or shared. Settings are stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue and are never sent to any external server. The extension does not access or store login credentials, financial data, or personally identifiable information. The tool interacts with the Peacock video player by clicking the Skip Recap button that is already visible on the page; it does not modify the player or bypass any protections. Peacock may update its video player interface; the extension includes multiple detection strategies to maintain compatibility, but major redesigns may temporarily affect button detection.
