About this app
WHAT IT DOES
This userscript helps RV buyers evaluate motorhomes and campers by analyzing age, mileage, and usage patterns. It scans RV and camper listing pages—RVTrader, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, eBay Motors, and similar sites—to extract vehicle details: year, make, model, mileage, engine type, and class (Class A, B, C, travel trailer, fifth wheel, etc.). It calculates the RV's age in years and average miles driven per year, comparing to typical RV usage (5,000–7,000 miles/year). The result is displayed as a visual badge or panel showing Low Usage, Average Usage, Above Average, or High Usage. The script estimates remaining years of service based on a typical lifespan of 200,000 miles, distinguishes between motorhomes (with engine mileage) and trailers (no engine), and suggests maintenance items based on age and mileage thresholds.
WHERE IT RUNS
The script works on RV and camper listing pages—RVTrader, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, eBay Motors, and similar classified sites. It runs entirely within your browser, reading only the visible content of the current page. It does not track your browsing history, access other tabs, or send any data externally. All calculations are performed locally.
HOW TO USE
After installation, open the panel by clicking the tool's icon in the BotGentz sidebar. The script auto-scans RV listing pages on load (toggle this on/off). Choose your display mode—"Badge only" shows a floating badge in the corner, "Panel only" shows details in the panel, or "Both" shows both. Select your average mileage baseline for RVs—5,000 mi/year (Light usage), 6,000 mi/year (Average), 7,500 mi/year (Heavy usage), or 10,000 mi/year (Full-timer). Toggle "Show maintenance suggestions" for RV-specific maintenance items based on age and mileage. Click "Analyze RV" to manually scan the page. The badge displays the usage status, annual mileage, age, and estimated remaining life. The panel shows a full breakdown including vehicle details, usage analysis, and maintenance suggestions. Use "Clear analysis" to remove all overlays.
THE TECHNICAL MECHANISM
This script uses text extraction, pattern matching, and arithmetic analysis to evaluate RVs. It scans for year (using \b(19|20)\d{2}\b), mileage (using ([\d,]+)\s*(?:miles|mi|mile)), and detects RV class by matching against lists of motorhome classes (Class A, B, C, B+) and trailer types (Travel Trailer, Fifth Wheel, Pop-up, Toy Hauler, etc.). It also extracts make, model, engine type, and price. For motorhomes with mileage, it calculates age (current year minus model year) and average annual mileage (total mileage divided by age). It compares the result to the selected baseline and categorizes usage: Low Usage (200%, red). Remaining lifespan is estimated by subtracting current mileage from 200,000 miles and dividing by annual rate. Trailers are flagged as having no engine mileage. Maintenance suggestions are generated based on age thresholds (5+ years: roof seals, 8+ years: tires, 10+ years: suspension) and mileage thresholds (30k, 50k, 75k, 100k), plus RV-specific items (generator service, slide-out mechanisms, propane system, AC service).
THE PANEL
The panel is draggable anywhere on the screen and remembers its position between sessions. It can be collapsed to a small floating bubble to minimize distraction, and expanded again with a single click. The panel's width can be adjusted, and pressing the Escape key closes it instantly. All settings—display mode, average baseline, show maintenance, and auto-scan—are persisted locally using GM_setValue, so your preferences remain intact across page reloads and browser restarts.
PLEASE NOTE
This userscript requires the free BotGentz extension to function. The script is designed for RV and camper listing sites; it may work on other classified sites but is not guaranteed. The extraction relies on the current text patterns on each site—if a site updates its UI, the script may need to be updated. The lifespan estimate (200,000 miles) is a general average for motorhomes; actual longevity varies by make, model, maintenance, and usage. Trailers are identified as having no engine mileage—only motorhomes receive usage analysis. Maintenance suggestions are general recommendations; always consult an RV specialist for specific advice. The script does not access your account or API; it only reads what is visible on the page. No data from your browsing is stored or transmitted anywhere—all processing occurs entirely in your browser.
