Scholarship Application Checklist Generator

WHAT IT DOES

This userscript helps students organize scholarship applications by generating structured checklists from requirements. It scans scholarship pages, financial aid websites, or application portals for required documents and criteria—essay requirements, letters of recommendation, transcripts, test scores, and financial forms. It generates a structured checklist for each scholarship application, extracts requirements from text, categorizes items by priority (Required, Recommended, Optional), tracks completion status, and shows progress for each application. The script sets reminders for upcoming deadlines, highlights missing items, and exports the checklist as CSV or HTML. It suggests common scholarship items (essay, recommendations, transcripts, test scores, FAFSA, resume, portfolio, activities, awards) and allows users to add custom checklist items.

WHERE IT RUNS

The script works on scholarship pages, financial aid websites, application portals, and any page with scholarship requirements. It runs entirely within your browser, reading only the visible content of the current page. It does not track your browsing history, access other tabs, or send any data externally. All checklist data is processed and stored locally.

HOW TO USE

After installation, open the panel by clicking the tool's icon in the BotGentz sidebar. Click "Scan page for requirements" to extract scholarship names and requirements from the current page. The panel displays each scholarship with a progress bar and items list. Check items off as you complete them—progress updates automatically. Add new scholarships using the "Add Scholarship" button (includes default items). Add custom items to any scholarship using the "Add Item" form. Use the export dropdown to choose your format—CSV or HTML (report). Click "Export" to download. Use "Delete Scholarship" to remove a scholarship.

THE TECHNICAL MECHANISM

This script uses text extraction to identify scholarship requirements from page content. It scans for scholarship names using patterns like "Scholarship", "Grant", "Fellowship", "Award", "Fund". It detects requirement keywords (essay, recommendation, transcript, test score, financial, resume, portfolio, activity, award, honor, certificate) and extracts the surrounding text as item names. Priority is determined by context keywords: "required" or "must" → Required, "optional" or "may" → Optional, otherwise Recommended. Each scholarship stores a name and an array of items with name, priority, and completed status. The progress calculation tracks completed vs total items. The HTML export generates a styled report with scholarship cards and priority color coding. All data is persisted using GM_setValue.

THE PANEL

The panel is draggable anywhere on the screen and remembers its position between sessions. It can be collapsed to a small floating bubble to minimize distraction, and expanded again with a single click. The panel's width can be adjusted, and pressing the Escape key closes it instantly. All settings and checklist data are persisted locally using GM_setValue, so your checklists remain intact across page reloads and browser restarts.

PLEASE NOTE

This userscript requires the free BotGentz extension to function. The script extracts requirements from page text—it may not capture all items correctly. Review and adjust extracted checklists as needed. The priority detection uses keyword matching and may not always be accurate. The script does not access external APIs or store any data outside your browser. No data from your browsing is stored or transmitted anywhere—all processing occurs entirely in your browser.
