Spark Web Smart Inbox Category Badge automatically scans Spark smart inbox and category pages to extract category data including inbox categories (Personal, Notifications, Newsletters, Other), email counts, and category distribution. The tool displays a floating overlay panel showing a summary of smart inbox categories with color-coded indicators—green for Personal, blue for Notifications, yellow for Newsletters, and gray for Other. Summary statistics show total emails, unread count, and number of active categories. A category breakdown displays each category with its count and percentage. A visual distribution bar shows the proportion of each category at a glance. Quick stats show active categories, read rate, and the largest category. A legend explains the color-coding. This provides a complete, organized view of your Spark smart inbox categories.

This extension operates exclusively on sparkmailapp.com domain pages that contain inbox and category content—specifically pages with "/inbox", "/smart", "/mail", or "/home" in the URL path, or pages that display smart inbox categories and email listings. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The category badge runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All category data extraction, distribution analysis, and preference storage are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your email data and tracking preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.

HOW TO USE

After installing both BotGentz and this category badge, navigate to any Spark inbox or smart inbox page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying a summary with total emails, unread count, and active categories. The "Categories" section shows each category with its count and percentage, color-coded for quick identification. A distribution bar shows the visual proportion of each category. Quick stats display active categories, read rate, and the largest category. A legend explains the color-coding. The panel provides a complete, organized view of your smart inbox categories.

CATEGORY DATA EXTRACTION AND DISTRIBUTION ANALYSIS

The category badge uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse category data from Spark pages. It first attempts to find structured category elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including "category-item," "category-tab," "inbox-category," and "smart-category." When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to text-based parsing, scanning the page for category-related patterns using pattern matching for category names, counts, and status indicators. Categories are classified using a keyword mapping system: "personal," "people," "friend," "family," "colleague," or "contact" maps to Personal; "notification," "alert," "update," "reminder," or "system" to Notifications; "newsletter," "news," "weekly," "daily," "digest," or "magazine" to Newsletters; and other items to Other. Email counts are extracted through pattern matching for numbers in parentheses or badge indicators. Unread status is determined through keyword detection for "unread" or class name checks. Category distribution is calculated as percentages of total emails. All data is presented in a clean, organized panel with color-coded indicators.

THE PANEL

The category badge panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the Spark inbox page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you manage your inbox. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, and category tracking preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the category badge does not work standalone. Spark occasionally updates its page layouts and category presentation formats, which may temporarily affect category data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts category data from the visible page content; if inbox categories are loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment or refresh the page for the panel to populate. Category classification is based on keyword detection and may not capture all category types with perfect accuracy. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all category data extraction, distribution analysis, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser.
