About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Toggl Web Weekly Summary Badge scans your Toggl web timer pages and weekly reports, extracting time entries, project names, task descriptions, and duration data. It then calculates weekly summary totals by project and client, displaying a weekly summary badge on the main timer view that shows the current week's total hours and progress toward a customizable target. The badge includes daily breakdown bar indicators, project distribution percentages, and time allocation visualizations. A floating panel provides a detailed weekly breakdown with project rankings, client totals, and exportable weekly summary data. The extension highlights overtime and tracks progress throughout the week, giving you real-time visibility into your time allocation.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension runs directly in your browser on any Toggl web page, including the main timer dashboard, weekly report views, time entries lists, and project detail pages. It operates entirely client-side, reading the DOM structure of the current page without making external API calls or sending data to any third-party server. The extension works with Toggl's standard interface and adapts to dynamically loaded time entries.

HOW TO USE

After installation, navigate to your Toggl web dashboard. The extension automatically scans time entries and displays a weekly summary badge showing total hours logged this week, a progress bar toward your target, and day-by-day activity bars. Click the extension's toolbar icon to open the floating panel, which shows a detailed project breakdown with time allocation percentages, project rankings, and client totals. Adjust the "Weekly target" setting to set your desired hours per week—the progress bar updates in real time. Toggle "Show badge" to control whether the summary appears on the timer view, and toggle "Highlight overtime" to see red indicators when you exceed your target. Use the "Scan Now" button to manually refresh the data, and "Export Weekly Summary" to copy a detailed report to your clipboard for billing or timesheet purposes.

THE REASON IT WORKS WHERE OTHERS DO NOT

Unlike generic time trackers that rely on API access, this extension uses a heuristic extraction system that reads visible time entry data directly from the page. It employs a multi-strategy duration parser that handles multiple formats including HH:MM:SS, HH:MM, decimal hours, and text-based durations with "h" or "m" suffixes. The project detection system extracts project names from tags, hashtags, and contextual labels, falling back to "Uncategorized" when no project is identified. The weekly calculation algorithm groups entries by a Monday-based week start, sums durations by project and day, and computes progress percentages against the user's target. The extension also includes a DOM mutation observer with debounced re-scanning, ensuring that newly added or modified time entries are automatically incorporated without manual intervention.

THE PANEL

The floating panel is fully draggable via its title bar and remembers its last position per site using localStorage, restoring it on page reload. It snaps to viewport edges when dragged near them, keeping the panel accessible without blocking page content. The panel can be collapsed to a compact bubble by clicking the minimize button, and expanded again by clicking the same button or the extension's toolbar icon. Pressing the Escape key closes the panel; reopening is done via the toolbar icon. The panel automatically reappears when navigating between Toggl views, maintaining your last position and settings. The summary area displays total hours, entry count, target progress, and a visual progress bar, followed by a detailed project breakdown with percentage bars.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and enabled, as it relies on BotGentz's DOM observation and injection permissions to operate within Toggl's dynamically updating interface. Toggl frequently updates its interface; when this happens, the extension may temporarily stop working until an update is released. Please check for updates regularly. All time tracking data processed by the extension remains strictly local to your browser—no data is transmitted, stored, or shared with any external service. Time entries are extracted from visible page content and may not reflect real-time data available in Toggl's native reports. This tool is designed as a visual aid for time management and should be used alongside Toggl's native reporting for accurate billing and compliance.
