WHAT IT DOES

Trello Card Template Inserter is a floating panel that stores and manages Trello card templates. Create templates with sections for card title, detailed description, checklist items, and label colors. Edit or delete existing templates. Search through your templates by name or content. Click a template to insert the structured card format into the active text field or copy to clipboard. This saves time when creating recurring card types in Trello and ensures consistent card formatting across boards.

WHERE IT RUNS

This script runs on Trello (https://trello.com/*). It reads only the page you are looking at, never other tabs, bookmarks, or browser data. All data stays in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere.

HOW TO USE

Open a Trello board. Click the Trello Card Template Inserter panel button in the BotGentz extension toolbar. The panel appears at the edge of the page. To create a template, enter a name and structured content with sections (Title, Description, Checklist items, Labels), then click "Save". To use a template, click it — it inserts into the active input field. Use the "Copy" button to copy without inserting. Search templates using the search box. Edit or delete templates using the buttons on each template. Import/export templates for backup or sharing.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

Templates are stored as an array of objects with name and content properties, persisted using GM_setValue and restored with GM_getValue. Clicking a template checks the active element — if it's an input, textarea, or contenteditable, it inserts the template at the cursor position using document.execCommand or direct value manipulation with selection handling. If no active input is found, it copies to clipboard using GM_setClipboard. The search filters templates by name or content in real time. All operations run client-side in pure JavaScript.

THE PANEL

The panel is a floating overlay that you can drag anywhere on the screen by its header. It remembers its position per site so it reappears where you left it. The panel can be collapsed into a small handle to get it out of the way, and snapped to the edge of the page. It can be resized to fit your workflow. Press Escape to close the panel.

The script runs on trello.com and inserts text into the active input field if you are focused on one — if not, it copies to clipboard. Trello's interface may change — the script may need updates to match new selectors.
